I live in Southern California and was in Yuma on March 2nd and 3rd visiting a friend. I frequent Yuma a lot to see friends and this recent trip was the first time I went to Arizona Gold & Silver, (AG&S).
Entering the store was very much like entering a museum; with stock sealed in displays, understandable as there are expensive pieces of gold and silver all around. I went in there just looking for 10 ounces of silver eagles. I approached the counter and was greeted by Amy. She said she did have some silver Eagles; but wanting to get something with not as high of a premium. she suggested a 10 ounce silver bar. Amy brought two examples to the window, and I eventually settled for the 10 oz Geiger Edelmetalle square silver bar.
The bar was $372 out the door with their premiums and the quality of the piece was what I expected. Being fairly new to precious metals, I'm still learning about the various mints around the world.
I paid with a debit card and Amy told me there would be a three day hold; for a variety of reasons that are not really necessary for me to go into detail here.
I knew I was leaving on the 3rd to go back home. So she offered to ship it to me. I declined to have it shipped as I knew I was returning the following week for other reasons. It was cheaper for me to expend the gas to pick it up the following week, which is what I did. Amy held the bar for me until I returned the night of April 9th. I picked it up Wednesday morning on the 10th and made the short drive back to California.
Could Amy have shipped it at a low cost, probably. But my house has a mailbox on a horizontal flat that shares that space with three other mail boxes. For security reasons, I don't want high dollar items just sitting in my mailbox. I wasn't bothered by the three day hold at all.
I enjoyed going there. And I will go again. I wouldn't say I'm a "big spender", but I like places that have quality stock and where the employees know what they're talking about.
Thank you Amy, and forgive me because I forgot the name of your colleague who assisted me earlier this morning when I picked up the bar. He...
Read moreJust another place taking advantage of ignorant people In their times of need. First Red flag they can't even answer simple questions over the phone. They refuse to answer the same simple questions other gold shops will answer over the phone. 2nd they don't even agree with the current spot price that gold is bought and sold for on the international market daily????? Google clearly states the current spot value of gold every day. They don't go by the official spot value everyone else uses. They make up a different spot value and give it a special definition and use that WOW. Today's spot value of gold is 85.33 per gram. They disagree even tho this is the price everyone else agrees on?? They calculate the gold using a different spot value LOL. Then try and charge 20 percent on top of that with a straight face too WOW. 3rd they know the gold game very well and are scamming the ignorant. I tell them I can get 10 percent under the real spot value in Phoenix and they know this. But still lied to my face anyway when I already knew the truth. Why keep lieing when we both know the truth?? Facts!!!! I called gold shops in Phoenix and they happily answered my questions over the phone WOW. I then yesterday drove to one I talked to and they gave me 10 percent under true spot WOW. They gave me $1100 more than these scam artist offered me. So don't get scammed just go to Phoenix. Getting 10 percent below true spot is super easy in Phoenix and these scam artists know this very well. You don't even have to call more than 3 shops before being offered 10 percent or less below spot. They know this and lie about it facts! Funny to me but I feel sorry for the scammed and must warn others. Don't listen to a single word these...
Read moreSo normally never do these reviews but I’m pretty well upset. Went in a couple weeks ago on two separate occasions and was treated fairly by the manager sold a few pieces of jewelry scrap from my late mother ect. I was offered a price for a pearl and gold bracelet, declined and wanted to discuss private selling this piece. After thought and how busy we are decided to take him up on his offer. I returned, presented the bracelet and repeated the offer and though the manager, who I had previously delt with, was on vacation his employees called him to verify the offer. Up to this point, all good business as usual, when he returned from his phone call, he told me it was impossible for him to give me that price, and his manager denied ever offering the price. I then said, because I can be wrong, ok im sorry, am I slightly off or something why are you guys chuckling at me? They proceeded to laugh and tell me I was way off I felt pretty low at that point. Not as if selling mothers old jewlery to make Christmas happen wasn’t enough, then he shook his head at me as I walked away. A little sensitive, sure but I honestly felt like I was trying to be hustled and I was ignorant. Not going back and I don’t recommend this place alone, very used car lot vibe....
