We had an amazing time at Almazara during our brief stay in Montevideo. We stopped on the first evening for drinks at a sidewalk table, and came back the next noon for lunch. We ordered milanesa, grilled fish, spanish tortilla. Every dish hit the spot just right, with fresh ingredients. The decor of the restaurant is modern and relaxing. What's even more unforgettable was the outstanding service of the staff. They were attentive all the time, and despite us not speaking Spanish, the waitresses tried their best to communicate. After lunch, my dad accidentally left his shirt on the chair and left, with cash inside. The staff members were super helpful. They made sure the shirt was returned to us intact. My Spanish isn't great, but Ana let me do my best to order in Spanish and explain things in English so I was sure to order a meal I was happy with. I wish I hadn't had such a big lunch because the empanadas I had were amazing. I had the queso y cebolla, y the caprese empanadas with a glass of wine. There is no rush with dinner so I enjoyed my glass of wine and the atmosphere of the restaurant. For dessert I had the Flan con Dulce de Leche. It was phenomenal and the largest piece of flan I have ever seen. Uruguay is not cheap but Almazara was very affordable. I wish I had gone sooner in my trip; do not make the same mistake I did! Thank you for a...
