Seriously, why is this restaurant not packed every night? One of the best wine lists in Uruguay, the food is very good, service is prompt, and prices are reasonable. Update 27/1/2020. Another great meal here today! We had a wonderful lunch for 4, including the Tabla Mixta starter, steak tartare, lomo, creme brule, tarte tartine, and coffees. The feel of the street front outdoor seating was very pleasant; the staff were super attentive and helpful; and the meals were great (as always). The Tabla Mixta is noteworthy, both for the really excellent cheeses and the tasty charcuterie. The homemade sourdough baguette that accompanies it is also top class - much better than anything we can buy here in Carrasco. Remember to buy a couple to take home (only 85 pesos)! I am confident that the steak tartare is the best in town. Not many places serve it (because Uruguayans prefer their meat more well done), but this one stands proud. All in all, Baco remains, after many visits, one of my favorite restaurants in Uruguay. There is no doubt that it is one of the most dependable and consistently excellent restaurants in town. Highly recommended for lunch and dinner!

Came here for dinner with a couple of friends, and were unfortunately very very disappointed! Asides from the extremely small and low quality portions of food, most things didn’t even come as described.. We ordered the duck (which with the cost of 1500, came with maybe half a breast.. ridiculous!), the Sea bass (3 little bites, not the filet we were expecting), the steak tartare was just ground up beef, and the Ravioli (which was actually nice seasoned) was so over cooked that it was like eating mashed potatoes.. I would’ve gladly rated it a 1 star, but the Creme brule at the end was tasty :) In short, you don’t get what you paid for. food is mediocre and overpriced, it’s a big restaurant that had next to no atmosphere, service was fair.

We’re so glad we found Baco Vino y Bistro on Christmas Eve when nearly everywhere else was closed for the holiday. Their wine selection is absolutely fantastic, and while the food was decent overall, there’s some room for improvement, especially with the chicken dish.

What truly stood out, however, was the excellent service. The manager and servers worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had a great time, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere despite the busy holiday.

If you’re visiting Punta Carretas and need a reliable place to dine during a holiday, Baco Vino y Bistro is definitely...
