El Fogón — Restaurant in Montevideo

I'm not one to typically eat at a mall, but the hotel staff recommended the mall, and on a Sunday evening we were not feeling adventurous. This restaurant was much more upscale than the other places and offered a nice menu (including an English version). Our server, Vivian, was outstanding in guiding us. Our meals, different cuts of beef, were excellent. Having nothing to compare against, the prices seemed very reasonable. It's a higher end restaurant located in a mall. This place is good with to have it's own brick and mortar location. The Good: This place was really nice. They have an extensive menu with interesting foods. The waiter was friendly, charming, and spoke some English. The drinks were good, the food was tasty, and the check wasn't crazy. They even made something special that wasn't on the menu for us. Top level service.

The Bad: It took a while for the food to be made, but not too long. The noice from the mall comes inside which can disturb the atmosphere a bit....

First visit in this shopping mall and we went into this restaurant as it was the one that looked best. We didn't know it was El Fogon - we know this one from the cuter center. We ordered a steak and an asado and it was perfectly cooked. The asado was not salted but that was something we could add on ourselves. To the dinner we got a very good Tannat wine. The service was outstanding.

This place looks more modern and fancy compared to their place in the city center, but the quality...
