Athena Souvlaki is a Greek restaurant located in the heart of Da Nang, attracting diners with its cozy, elegant atmosphere and distinct Mediterranean style. It’s an ideal spot for those who love Greek cuisine or are simply looking to explore unique flavors. Ambiance The ambiance at Athena Souvlaki is both intimate and refined, with a blue and white color scheme reminiscent of the beautiful fishing villages on Santorini. The restaurant offers spacious seating, with options to sit indoors or on the balcony overlooking the vibrant streets. Soft lighting and relaxing music create a comfortable and welcoming dining experience. Menu Athena Souvlaki’s menu is rich with traditional Greek dishes, with the standout being souvlaki – skewered, well-marinated meat served with fresh vegetables. Other highlights include moussaka (a baked dish with ground meat and potatoes topped with melted cheese), gyros (pita wraps with grilled meat), and Greek salad with the perfect blend of olive oil and feta cheese. Ingredients here are either imported or carefully selected to ensure authentic flavors. Quality of Food Each dish at Athena Souvlaki is crafted with care and is perfectly seasoned. The meat in the souvlaki is tender, flavorful, and pairs well with classic sauces like tzatziki. The Greek salad, with feta cheese, tomatoes, and fresh cucumbers, is an ideal choice for those looking for a light dish. Moussaka is also worth a try, with its melted cheese blending harmoniously with layers of potatoes and meat. Service The staff at Athena Souvlaki are friendly and attentive. They’re happy to introduce the dishes, explain how to enjoy them, and provide fast, thoughtful service. The owner often greets guests, adding a personal touch that makes diners feel like they’re enjoying a meal in a family setting. Price The prices at Athena Souvlaki are reasonable, ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 VND for a main dish. It’s a fair price for the quality of food and attentive service at an international cuisine restaurant in the heart of Da Nang. Overall Rating Athena Souvlaki is an excellent choice for experiencing Greek cuisine in Da Nang. From the cozy ambiance to the quality of the food and service, everything here is designed to satisfy. If you’re looking to try a meal with a fresh new taste, Athena Souvlaki is definitely a place not to miss.

My wife and I had dinner at Athena. Ordered a pita bread/smoked eggplant entree, and two chicken souvlaki wraps. Our wraps were tasty and much bigger than expected. However, the eggplant dip, which I had to follow up on, wasn’t served until we had almost finished our wraps, and neither of us were keen on the flavour. We sat inside hoping it would be a little cooler, but NOT so. There was only one wall fan and it was totally inadequate. We definitely made the wrong move. Without meaning to be too critical, the one thing that let things down was the service : - we actually had to ask for drinks after being seated for about 10 mins, despite being given a menu right away. My wife’s bottle of water wasn’t cold (my beer was) and no ice or glass were offered - as previously mentioned, our entree was delivered out of turn and had to be followed up. - people next to us ordered their meals, but the waiter delivered them to the wrong table. After taking them back and leaving them on the counter for 5 mins or so, he eventually served one, but the other was left until I pointed it out to the customer, who brought it to the waiters attention. Maybe we visited on a bad night, and what we experienced service wise, is out of the norm given the restaurants reasonably high rating. I hope this is the case.

The service here was well below average - they clearly need more training. First issue - brought wrong drinks. No major. Ordered Moussaka and asked for the fries with it - see image attached. Dish came with just a small lump of what I imagine moussaka might look like if you’re half blind, with no fries or any garnish - looked kinda ridiculous. We even opened it up to see if the fries were hidden inside. Nope. When asked, the young chef said it didn’t come with anything. Refused to look at the menu. Very unfriendly. Maybe caught them on a bad night given other reviews here - perhaps the owner was away? Regardless, food was average and overpriced, particularly given the dish was “not as described”. I will not return here.

“It’s the perfect sandwich.”

Athena Souvlaki is a gold mine of good eats. With a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, this place whips up some seriously delicious food. And I’m willing to say that they have the best sandwich this side of the Aegean.

The lamb souvlaki is pure perfection: the grilled lamb, the fresh tomatoes, those perfectly cut fries, and an amazing tzatziki sauce all wrapped in a pita bread that is fluffy, crispy and chewy, all at the same time—what is it that makes it so good?…a secret ingredient maybe?

The Dip Plate is also excellent. The hummus and baba ganoush are silky smooth. There is a zing in there that is divine. Again…that bread! Wow!

You’d be foolish to skip dessert. The carrot cake is amazing. And that glaze topping might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

Whoever is back in the kitchen has some mad skills. Everything was off-the-charts good.

I dug the environment too. The choice of music was an especially nice touch. Whoever thought of putting heavy doses of Chet Baker and Bill Evan in the mix is simply brilliant!

All in all, this is a great place. After going back multiple times to eat the lamb souvlaki, I felt a little bit like Dan Gorske, the man who has eaten over 30,000 Big Macs, when he says, “Man, this is the perfect sandwich, you know. At least for me it is.” ...
