I've been invited to dine at this restaurant by the staff on numerous occasions while passing by. However, my latest visit was prompted by an out-of-town guest who had heard good things about the place. Unfortunately, our experience didn't align with the positive feedback. (Local owners play a lot to manipulate the social media here, but experts cannot be fooled.)
We ordered the nghêu đen, which arrived quickly but was excessively salty, rendering it inedible. Even after sending it back to the kitchen for a redo, the second attempt was equally disappointing, lacking the expected balance of flavors. (-2 points for getting it wrong twice)
My guest jokingly suggested making the chef consume the whole dish, but we settled for a more diplomatic approach. Thankfully, the management stepped in and refunded us for the unsatisfactory dish.
The other dishes we tried were also rather bland and unimpressive. (-1 point)
I find it difficult to comprehend the positive comments from others about this restaurant, unless perhaps the regular chef wasn't working on the evening of our visit or those reviewers lack experience with this genre of snails/ốc cuisine.
Overall, our bill for two people amounted to around 700,000 VND, excluding alcohol, which we didn't order. This restaurant appears to be extremely pricey for the type of food it offers. (-1 point)
As we left all of the food, save a couple of bites on the table, the restaurant should have refunded 100% of what wasn’t consumed since the meal is unsatisfactory on many levels. (-1 point)
In the end, this restaurant gets zero stars for the experience we were afforded, the time wasted, and the money wasted.
Would I consider returning? Absolutely not,...
Read moreSorry didn’t do it for us . Garlic King prawns in a garlic butter tasted more like an Indian butter chicken sauce ( even looked like it ) . Didn’t taste any garlic . Fried Red Talapia whole fish ok but not exciting . Sauce was fine . Enjoyed the large serving of Seafood Fried Rice . Shame that the plate was taken away before we’d finished it . 🙄
When asking about the garlic butter no one understood us so just went for it . Menu placed in front of my wife was taken away and returned a few minutes later ?
Loud Music added to the noise from patrons did not add up to any sort of ambience … more an uncomfortable feeling . Lastly I found the Menu confusing ! Total of bill 590k .
Maybe we are spoilt with the abundance of fresh local reasonably priced seafood where we come from .. so apologies but we’ve certainly had much better seafood in our travels...
Read moreSaw pretty good reviews on this restaurant, especially the butter cream prawn. Decided go drop by as we were in the area. Oh my, the prawn was so Delish! A taste that is different from the ones back in Singapore. The flavourful creaminess, savory-sweet combo, and fresh prawns made it so so good. The gravy sticks to the prawns and shelling it in the mouth is such a guilty pleasure. We tried the steamed shellfish and the minced herbs of basil, mint and crushed peanuts added a nice twist to the sea sweetness of the shellfish. Stir fried morning glory (kangkong) with garlic is very fragrant. It is just salty enough to titillate the taste buds. A mouthful of it with rice delivers a nice crunch. Last, we ordered the stirfried beef chunk with peppers. This was OK, not exceptional. Overall a great lunch meal for the family. About D600k for 3...
