Nice chill space for a morning coffee and treat! I see some people working on their laptops upstairs. There are outlets at some of the tables, and it tends to be quiet. The latte is decent although I'm not used to the bean variety. It had an almost meaty, savory flavor. Not bad, just unexpected. Overall this place is better than a Starbucks in North America, but not quite a French patisserie. This is more like Paris Baguette, an Asian Bakery that draws inspiration from French bakeries/patisseries.
The croissant is fine as long as you're not from France or Montreal. If you're from a place where they take bread seriously, this will be a disappointment. They put a sugar wash on the surface to make it shiny, which is just ill advised in this humidity. It absorbs moisture and makes the crisp shell soggy, and also becomes sticky. I suppose that's why they give you a fork and knife to eat it with? An egg wash or unsweetened milk wash would be better if they want to add shine. The inside of the croissant didn't have perfectly separated layers but was moist and stretchy. Not a deal breaker for me, but could matter to croissant purists. If you're looking for a better croissant, try Le Bordeaux.
The passion fruit cheese cake was so adorable, light and refreshing. Recommend!
Walnut cheese bread was tasty and filling, but not particularly standout. Not too sweet, which I liked.
The baguette was not a great example of French baguette. It may have been from yesterday - the outside crust was a bit too thick, the inside a bit too dry. There was not a whole lot of flavor to it, but they gave us butter on the side when asked and it was pleasant that way.
Pretzel bread; good, but a bit bland. Ask for butter on the side. Appreciate the use of actual lye solution to form the crust, as most places in the US use baking soda and don't get that dark, classic shine.
The strawberry shortcake was curiously short on cake. There was roughly 1/4" of sponge cake at the bottom, a bit of strawberry compote, and 2 inches of butter cream topped with some whipped cream. The strawberry compote and fresh strawberry was delightful, sweet and tart. The butter cream was a slog. Way too heavy and way too much of it. It has the texture of whipped butter also, so it really feels like eating a big spoon of creamy unflavored fat. It needed to be layered between more sponge, more compote, or both. Maybe replace the butter cream with vanilla custard or whipped cream and layer in more discs of sponge. I do not recommend this one.
Lots to choose from here, so I'll update if we go back and try some...

Read moreContinuing my journey to find the best sourdough, I visited this bakery for the second time.
From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted. The staff are friendly and communicate well, which adds to the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
The interior is thoughtfully arranged, with comfortable spacing between tables and music that brings a nice energy to the space. The chair I sat on was quite comfortable, though I do wish the restroom had air conditioning — that would be a great improvement.
The croissant is above average, and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found sourdough that brings me real joy. It’s beautifully made — easily the best I’ve had locally.
One caveat: the espresso I had during my last visit lacked the creamy top I usually enjoy, so this time I went with an iced tea (no sugar), which was refreshing and worked well with the pastries.
Prices are above the local average, but the quality of ingredients justifies it. If you value high standards, this spot is absolutely worth visiting.
