I visited Gujarat Indian Restaurant in Hanoi this morning, drawn by its promise of authentic vegetarian cuisine. The restaurant's signage indicated operating hours starting at 8:00 AM; however, upon my arrival at 10:30 AM, I was informed by a Vietnamese staff member that entry was not permitted until 11:00 AM. This discrepancy between advertised hours and actual service was inconvenient.
Once allowed entry at 11:00 AM, I placed my order. Unfortunately, the dishes served were noticeably different in quality compared to their Ho Chi Minh City counterpart. Both vegetable dishes appeared to contain excessive food coloring, which left visible stains on our hands. Upon bringing this to the manager's attention, he acknowledged the use of food coloring, stating it was part of their preparation process.
While I appreciate the restaurant's commitment to serving pure vegetarian food—a rarity in Hanoi—the overall experience was underwhelming. The inconsistency in service hours, combined with the subpar food quality and use of artificial coloring, detracted from the dining experience.
Pros: Offers pure vegetarian cuisine, catering to a niche audience in Hanoi.
Cons: Inconsistent operating hours. Inferior food quality compared to other branches. Use of artificial food coloring in dishes.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively to enhance the dining experience for future patrons.

Read moreWe went to this restaurant for dinner. It’s nicely done with decent seating. There’s only one AC so tends to get warm. Tried golgappas but the water was too damn salty. We had besan gatta that was nice. Pittoda vegetable was decent but too tangy and sour. We ordered vegetable tawa masala but they gave us some corns and carrots in sour gravy which wasn’t good at all. Tandoori rotis were not cooked properly. We asked for steamed rice they gave us jeera rice. Arhar daal was better. We ordered for paneer lababdar again too salty and not good at all. Same gravy as tawa masala. Service was damn slow. We got our order after 45 minutes. No cold water or ice. Then they got ice later. Ddnt enjoy at all. Ddnt have a relaxed meal. They charge 8% VAT. We gave this feedback to the chef and hopefully things ought...
Read moreMy overall experience could hace been had few things taken care of. It was very hot inside the restaurant and it was difficult for me to stay there for too long and have my food. I would have given 4 or 5 star as the food was good however I am giving 2 star because of the dessert they served me. I ordered gazar ka halwa at the end of my dinner and believe me it was one of the worst gazar ka halwa I had in my life. They either remove this dessert from the menue Or train the cook on how to make gazar ka halwa.By looking at it I knew it would not be good. The gazar was not cut properly as it was crushed poorly. This is not how it is cut for halwa. I left the halwa after had few spoons. I was so excited to have my favorite Gazar ka halwa after a long time and it was a big disappointment. Simply...
