Indulgent excellence and expertise!!
My husband and I booked a 90 minute tension massage at La Spa. On entering the spa reception we were met by the big smile and professional warm and welcoming energy of Ms. Hoai. She showed us to a comfy leather couch in the softly lit reception where relaxing music played and a soothing scent lingered in the air.
We were offered a welcome drink (a delicious cup of cold or hot herbal tea) with some local coconut crackers (light and moreish) as well as cold towels to wipe our face, neck and hands. While we enjoyed our welcome goodies, Ms. Hoai reconfirmed each of our treatments and advised us that we had a choice of two carrier oils (in beautiful glass bottles, clearly labelled) as well as one of four essential oils (in gorgeous ceramic containers, also clearly labelled).
After she had explained the benefits of each oil, we then made our respective oil selections. Ms. Hoai asked us to complete a simple treatment form where we selected our oils choices, type of massage pressure, specific areas to focus on / avoid. Each of our therapists, Ms. Uyen and Ms. Ha were then briefed before they escorted us to our tranquil treatment room.
The room was spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The towels were luxuriously soft and rich in colour. We already felt like we could decompress and take a slow, deep breath. Post hanging our clothes and wrapping ourselves in our towels, we were asked to sit on a leather cushioned stool and soak our feet in warm natural infusion of water, ginger, lemongrass, lemon and other ingredients. Ms. Uyen and Ms. Ha then washed and dried our feet before asking us to lie down on our massage tables, after which we were covered with towels.
There was a gentle ringing of a gong to signal the start of our treatment. I like a strong to very strong pressure, and Ms. Uyen did not disappoint. She checked in that I was comfortable the the pressure and then used her expertise to work each muscle group and key pressure point for the duration of the massage. Even my most stubborn knots didn’t stand a chance, which is exactly what I needed.
My husband prefers a medium pressure massage and I could tell by his breathing (actually it was his snoring - which he of course denies) that Ms. Ha was working her magic too.
Each therapist made a point to staying connected to each of us with a hand so we knew where they were in relation to us as they moved around our respective massage tables - a small but significant thing that my husband and I always I like.
Just before the end of our massage, our hands and feet were wiped with a hot towel and placed back under our towels. The gong was gently rung again calling an end to our treatment bliss.
Both feeling super relaxed and a little like jello, we changed back into our clothes and were offered a seat in reception where we were offered tea and biscuits. It felt wonderful to not be chased out after such an indulgent experience, something that so many other spas don’t get right.
Just before we left, Ms. Hoai gave us a bottle of the iced tea with some coconut crackers, an unexpected but much appreciated surprise and special touch.
In a world where selfcare isn’t always a priority, do yourself a favour and book a massage (or two if you have time) at La Spa - your body, mind and soul...
Read moreI've been in Vietnam for 3 weeks, and the day before leaving, I decided to just relax. Everywhere they do massages and treatments in Vietnam so choosing was difficult. I picked La Spa Ma May because they have a 5-star review rating on more than 250 reviews, and that is impressive. I decided to go in the morning where they offer a 20% discount from 9am to 12pm. I really wanted to do one of their packages but they were not the best fit for me, so I picked 3 treatments I wanted and I booked, full feet treatment, stress relief body massage and a facial. They asked me many questions if I wanted some area treated in particular, if I had any problem, my skin type for the facial: everything very professional. My therapist was Ms. Ha and she has been fantastic during the full treatment, always making sure I was comfortable, with her pressure, temperature in the room, and music. Feet and facial were good, but the body massage was perfect, the best massage I had in my life, I dare to say. When we finished, with my surprise they organised a little nibble in the restaurant of the hotel and a little gift. Price, compared to Europe and UK is affordble, considering all the service behind it, for the average of Vietnam probably a bit more pricey but the quality I don't think you can find it somewhere else. So definitely worth it, and if one day I come back to Hanoi, I will visit again. Thank you to the staff and to Ms....
Read moreMy wife and I were in Hanoi and wanted to do a couple’s massage. We were recommended this place by Trip Advisor and thought we would try it out. We reserved the time and massage treatment on the website, which was super convenient.
The spa is on the third floor of the hotel. When we exited the elevator and took the hall to the left we saw the entrance. The receptionist in the spa was incredibly kind and served us tea and asked about our preferences (oil, allergies, massaging pressure, etc). When the time came we were led into the room with our masseuses. They left for us to dress down to our towels and came back in when we were ready.
My wife and I had the “Tension Relief Therapy” massage. It was excellent! The masseuses were very responsive to our requests and would do everything they could to make us feel comfortable. I could tell that they focused on areas that I had noted in the preference sheet we filled out before the massage.
After the massage was over we met with the receptionist. She offered us tea and we paid for our massages then. Overall we were very happy with our experience here and would recommend it to anyone looking for rest...
