TLDR; Poor ambiance, sub par service, and forced to write a 5-star review afterwards which has been updated to the below. Go to Estheva Spa around the corner, use your spare change to buy a coffee at Giao next door
Peony spa was not a 5 star experience. Let’s start from the beginning.
My partner and I wanted 30 minute leg massages and pedicures, plus nail paint for the lady, this cost us 750k dong (50 AUD for those playing along at home)
We specified what we would like to gentleman at the front and he bought us inside, we were the only people there (this should have raised some flags, but we continued) It turns out the man was the only person who spoke English, which is more than okay assuming he passed on our request to the staff inside….
We stood their awkwardly for several minutes until one of the several staff looked up from their phones and saw us standing there, they figured out we needed to start with a foot soak, which was cold (but the seats had a great electric back massage feature if you’re interested)
This was followed by a 30 minute leg massage on dirty chairs, which was the same 3 minute routine repeated 10 times.. it was okay but not phenomenal for the price)
We move onto the pedicures, where one nail technician took the time to trim up her nails before starting on my partners toes, without cleaning the nail cutters…. My partner was clipped twice on her toe skin while she was getting her nails cut…. Neither of us got our nails filed…. Odd for a pedicure… The nail tools were put back in their box without being cleaned.
The entire time we were there, there was no music, or ambience… only the sights and sounds of staff on their phones and one eating, which was off-putting and awkward for the hour we were there.
The staff were polite and considerate. When it was time to settle the bill, we were asked to provide a 5 star review on google, which I awkwardly did while the gentleman was looking over my phone….
This review has now been edited to provide my true encounter…
Save yourself some money, go to Estheva spa around the corner, then grab yourself a Vietnamese coffee at Giao next door! Estheva is more intimate, great...
Read moreDear peony spa garden team, I greatly appreciate your professionalism and accountability in replying so promptly and fully to my review. As I say my own massage was excellent and I would like to thank my masseuse for her exceptionally skilled work. However, I'm afraid that I cannot agree that this was a misunderstanding due to us being foreigners. Overall, the experience at the spa was of a very low quality. For example, it was impossible to be comfortable on the massage tables. This was because of the cheap headrests used. When my friends were being worked on by the masseuses, the headrests would spread out or fall off the table. One of my friends was forced to hold his headrest in position using his arms which made it impossible to be in a good position to receive the massage, while my other friend after a bit simply did not use the headrest which meant that his face was being pressed painfully into the wooden hole in the massage table. In terms of the massages themselves, one friend of mine booked an aromatherapy massage, which in the menu it said would focus on the use of scented essential oils in order to heal the skin and body remove toxins etc. While some massage oil was used at first, this did not seem to be essential oils and no oil after about half an hour. Furthermore, while we can accept that special moves may need to be used in order to deal with our larger frames, both of my friends felt that significantly less care was taken over their massages than in contrast to all other massages they had received in the past both in Europe and in Vietnam. The use of the massage procedures felt completely random, muscular sore points were not sought out at all, and the techniques used felt both haphazard and poorly executed in contrast to all other massages my two friends had received in a variety of different countries and contexts. While my massage was excellent, overall this made for a disappointing experience on our final...
Read moreBooked for two hours treatment, one hour massage and one hour hair treatment. Positive: My therapist and did well in arms and head massage, she listen to my request focused on my shoulder as well. Hair treatment was a bit scratchy, for 2-3 mins is ok, but continued for longer is hurting, I requested to be softer, she understands and adjusted. Negative: She knows all the movement about massage with no much of consistency, would be one on the shoulder then down the hip, moving very fast and the pressure didn’t go in, felts like she need to do all the movement, that’s all. (If I the trainer, she still need a lot of practice) Environment: The room is dark and has an air conditioning right on the conner of beds. The cold air directly to the shoulder. Staff were helpful to change the cold air to other direction after few times try. Sounds: As long as having a hair treatment, expecting hair dryer sounds. Hair wash bed I was on i don’t feel greatly safe after I got up from the bed, looking into the other direction is right downstairs and without any safety rails, if you not careful that would be a big fall with broken arms or legs. Surrounding: We went around 4pm and staff members are not busy, so a few staff members talking very loudly for a long while. So this place is somewhere have...
