I can't believe some of the positive reviews of this hotel. It makes me wonder if this is the same hotel or whether people are aware that there are good-quality mid-range hotels in Vietnam. This was the worst experience we had on a recent holiday trekking across South-East Asia. ||||We arrived to a welcome that could be best described as awkward, and were then informed of a credit card charge of 3% on our bill, even though this wasn't something we were aware of when booking. When we offered to pay cash, the staff has to use their own money to provide change. This unprofessionalism is something that would become a recurring theme of our short stay here. There appears to be no proper management, and many staff seem not to care.||||The first room we were offered had a/c that wasn’t blowing cold, a balcony door that was not shutting properly (we got locked out on it for a while!), a room that felt grubby, dated and stuffy. Even the ceiling in the hallway outside was in poor repair. The place just felt really run-down and I was concerned we wouldn't get any sleep with the balcony doors not closing properly (the room faced onto a very busy street) and was concerned re security.||||We went down to Reception and complained. The manager and a guy who I guess could best be described as a 'maintenance man' then arrived. The latter was extremely dismissive of our concerns (a/c was OK in his view and would improve, and the balcony doors were fine) with really negative body language.||||We were then offered another room without a balcony which was equally grubby, with no opening window, stale air, a view directly onto an adjoining property wall, a/c that wouldn’t turn off, holes in bathroom wall, stains in ceiling, the list goes on. At least it was quiet.||||Let me be clear: the website photos do not represent the rooms’ real condition.||||The next morning, the breakfast room was a mess; it looked like a bomb had hit it. There were empty hot plates with no food. The staff were sitting in the kitchen looking bored and disinterested, some on their phones, nobody clearing tables or replenishing food. There were flies over cooked food. The food that we ate (scrambled eggs) was so bland and there was virtually no selection (e.g. no OJ, tea, fruit mostly all gone).||||This hotel purports to be a 3-star property, but to us it felt like a poor 2-star. For around the same price, we stayed earlier for two nights in the infinitely superior Acoustic Hotel in Ha Noi. ||||Avoid...
Read moreWe were recommended to stay at this boutique hotel and loved it. This hotel is located on a famous street of the Old Hanoi Town or also called the Food Town. All the store fronts are tiny (2 1/2 to 4 meters) and all buildings are very old (they are not allowed to renovate as the government wanted to preserve it's own ancient charm) except hotels and some restaurants. Therefore rooms in this hotel are very small but nice and comfortable, and the air conditioner worked very well due to the small size of the room. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. They speak English. We got a free upgrade with a nice large balcony over looking the cute, unique, very busy small streets of this old district. The breakfast buffet was simple and good. Ask for the special beef and chicken soup. Most tourists stay in hotels in this entertaining old district. This was where we found most of the Caucasians. Lots and lots of inexpensive restaurants and shops. ||Walking distance to everywhere. Roads were closed on the weekend where night market went on from Friday to Sunday, 7 to 11 pm. Walking distance to all attractions including the lake Hoang Kiem. Very crowded but fun. Portraits drawn along the lake by many artists for US$ 5.00. ||Hire a private car to take you around Hanoi to see the new district (looks like Ho Chi minh city), the West Lake district, the Royal City and the extreme high end residential area.||We recommend this hotel to all and will stay here...

Unclean treatment rooms with no privacy, a bathroom so bad I refused to use it, awful noise coming from outside, massages not worth your time, therapists chatting between themselves for the full duration of the massage, so no focus on clients... and to top it all off, a rude dude at the reception ripping us off even though the therapist confirmed she didn’t do the treatments he was charging us for! He is THE reason I’m writing this review!||There was three of us having treatments and all felt this was the worst experience ever!||Do yourself a favour and go to the Serene Spa next door, that one you...
