We had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the building's architecture and overall atmosphere were truly impressive. Initially, we were seated on the second floor and served by a very friendly and attentive waiter. However, due to the noise from the busy dining room, we asked to be moved downstairs, and the staff were very accommodating and helpful about the request, which we appreciated. Once on the first floor, we were served by a different waiter. While I understand some staff try to be friendly and engage in small talk, I felt uncomfortable when the waiter asked if I was Vietnamese and after I responded yes, this waiter commented that I didn’t look Vietnamese and looked more Malaysian instead. It felt unnecessary and somewhat disrespectful, especially when comments about appearance and ethnicity are involved. At the end of our meal, the same waiter addressed my partner by name and asked him to leave a TripAdvisor review. While we were happy to support the restaurant, what made us uncomfortable was how the waiter stood very close and kept looking at my partner’s phone screen as he was writing the review. This felt intrusive and made it hard to be fully honest. While we did leave a 5-star review in the moment, we both felt a bit pressured to do so. The food and setting were fantastic. But the experience would have been much better with a little more sensitivity, especially around personal comments and respecting...
Read moreAs an Australian and an adventurous eater who wants to find unique foods that you can’t find at most places, I highly recommend eating here. The staff were amazing and the food was what I was looking for. I recommend looking at the menu a day before because some items on the menu has to be pre ordered, so can be picked up from the market in the morning. I pre-ordered the flapshell turtle cooked two ways braised and salty fried turtle the night before via email and they were very quick to respond with very good English and grammar. The summer spring rolls and water spinach with baby shrimp were amazing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very helpful with choosing our meals with amazing English. Highly recommend if you are looking for something a little different and...
