Maison Marou Flagship Hanoi — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Maison Marou Flagship Hanoi is a great establishment and a must visit for anyone visiting Hanoi or Vietnam. My parents loved the chocolates and pastries so much that we visited it three days straight from 6/2 – 6/5. I would have given 5 stars for Service if not for a bad experience I encountered on our last day of visit.

We visited the shop on the day before our departure to pick up gifts for friends, family, and ourselves. To proof to the owner(s), if they’re reading, that this is an authentic review I’m providing my receipt numbers for the last visit in the following. Day 6/5/24 – Receipt #42 – VND 170,000, Receipt # (TakeAway 6) – VND 2,960,000, Receipt #63 – VND 730,000, and Receipt #63 - VND 590,000.

So while I was at the counter ready to pay for the VND 2,960,000 transaction I asked the lady, who I later learned to be the Manager, in English if they have a small box to place the four take away cookies. She said yes but as I was paying I noticed she put them in a small brown bag instead. I figured it’s a misunderstanding or she may have thought the four cookies didn’t deserve a box. No biggie, I was planning on buying more take away cookies so figured I will request again later.

Few minutes later when I was paying for my last two take out transactions of VND 730,000 and VND 590,000, I asked the young lady Minh Anh, name stated on receipt and based on my inquiry, in English if I could have a box to pack the four take away cookies I’m buying plus the four earlier. Would have bought more but they were still baking. Anyhow, I wanted a box to prevent the cookies from getting smashed during carry-on and customs. So, Miss Minh Anh turned to the lady who helped me on initial transaction to ask her in Vietnamese. I presumed that lady manager would respond with one short word of “Yes” in Vietnamese but it turned out to be a long sentence. Miss Minh Anh then explained to me in English that the box is for pastries. I told her that I just spent a decent amount in the store, not including the prior two days, and requesting a small box for my cookies is not a big request. Even though I don’t speak Vietnamese, I know it was the other lady manager that didn’t want to oblige my small request. I did get a box without any fuss but just didn’t think I needed to insist.

I’m submitting this review in hopes that the owner(s) will read this and make necessary training for the manager. IMO, the manager has no common or business sense. I just spent a decent amount at the store and you can’t oblige me with a small box for the take away cookies. I didn’t just buy one or two cookies. I bought VND 4,450,000 worth of products this day. My parents and I are fans of your shop and realize the effort it takes to maintain the level of excellence. And just wanted to notify you of the bad taste I got in hopes others don’t have to. Perhaps the manager is upholding a company or climate policy that I’m not aware of.

Otherwise, we had an excellent experience at Maison Marou Flagship Hanoi and would love to visit in the future. And would like to give special shout-out to the young lady, Miss Minh Anh, for her good English and introducing the products during...

I recently visited Maison Marou's flagship store in Hanoi, and it was an absolute delight for my senses! As soon as I stepped in, the rich aroma of cocoa filled the air, and the beautifully displayed chocolates were a feast for the eyes.

The store itself is spacious and airy, with a modern yet inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, patiently answering my questions about the different types of chocolate and their origins.

I opted for a hot chocolate, and it was pure bliss. The chocolate was rich and flavorful, and the milk was perfectly frothed. I also tried a few of their macarons, which were equally delicious with delicate shells and creamy fillings.

Here are some things I particularly enjoyed: The wide variety of chocolates: From classic bars to unique flavored bonbons, there's something for every chocolate lover. The high quality of the ingredients: Maison Marou uses single-origin Vietnamese cocoa beans, which makes a noticeable difference in the taste. The knowledgeable staff: The staff was passionate about chocolate and happy to answer any questions I had. A few things to keep in mind:

The price: Maison Marou chocolates are on the pricier side, but the quality and experience justify the cost in my opinion. The location: The flagship store is located in the Old Quarter, which can be quite crowded, especially during peak tourist season.

Overall, I highly recommend Maison Marou to anyone visiting Hanoi who has a sweet tooth or appreciates quality chocolate. It's a great place to indulge in a decadent treat and learn about Vietnamese...

TL;DR Version - Definitely visit Maison Marou for a scrumptious dessert or a decadent dark chocolate drink.

As we were walking back after a fulfilling meal at Uu dam chay, I realised that we'll cross this place which I'd saved on @googlemaps . So we hopped in to visit the store just 10mins before it's closing time and I'm glad we did. Maison Marou is a chocolate lover's paradise with delicious options across their cafe - patisserie - chocolaterie menu. We had the dark hot chocolate which was decadent af! Both of us couldn't stop taking small sips of this velvety smooth concoction as we walked back to our hotel. It wasn't overtly sweet or too milky which hot chocolates end up becoming, and had an amazing mouth feel. If Angelina Paris is #1, I'd rank this a sure shot #2.

It almost felt like we were in a sister outlet of @subkocoffee . With so many elements that reminded us of our Bombay favorite, right from the way the menu was set on the wall, to the packaging of the chocolates (with gold embossing and trims similar to @subkocacao which btw I love), to the open kitchen for us to view, to the photos and the photography styles etc. But importantly how they're also super conscious about their sourcing, and how they're also focused on creating a sustainable and local bean to bark experience.👌

Btw, we'd also packed the Easter special, their take on the classic carrot cake which also was sublime. 😋😍
