Kem Trứng Bà Khanh — Restaurant in Hà Nội

It was 3:00 PM (15:00), 32°C and shaded. We had a plastic chair for a table and a smaller plastic chair to sit on. Occasionally had a mosquito flying around. And sometimes a person will have their motorbike exhaust pipe close to you as they arrive or leave.

And yet this cafe served some of the best coffee and snack I had during my trip in Hanoi. The iced, egg cream coffee (Cà phê trứng Đán) was a new coffee experience for myself and was the closest coffee similar to the classic iced coffee with condensed milk (Cà phê sữa đá). The baguette and glass of egg cream (Trứng kem) was a creamy, mildly sweet treat that goes well with coffee and doesn't leave you feeling heavy or too full afterwards. Cost for 2 coffees, 1 tea, baguette with egg cream was 120,000 ($4.80 USD).

Perhaps they may say it will be a long wait (30 minutes), but it seems that they don't rush their customers. We were told 30 minutes but was seated in 5 minutes after a group left and they cleared the table. The service was average, but good. No rude experience for us. Food took around 10-15 minutes to get out food as they are busy and might run out of ingredients and had to get more.

So overall, it is a café that you would want to go to be able to enjoy your coffee and relax, not if you're in a rush. It will not have the comforts and aesthetics of modern designer cafe. Although other people may say the staff are rude, the wait times are long, the food takes too long to arrive, people still come and every table had customers despite having so many other cafés that people can go to in the city. Sau một hồi đọc một nghìn cái rì viu trên google, mình quyết định đến đây, chỉ vì mình từng thấy một chiếc tiktok nhắc đến địa điểm này.

Mình cũng tự thử làm kem trứng cacao ở nhà rồi, nhưng đúng là ra đây - Hà Nội, không khí làm nên sự khác bọt hẳn hoi. Cái se lạnh của Hà Nội tháng 1 và ổ bánh mì nóng mới nướng đúng là một cái vibe hợp ơi là hợp 😚

Vì rì viu bảo kem trứng không thì ngọt quá, còn kem trứng cacao thì đã làm đã ăn rồi, vậy nên mình quyết định làm một ly kem trứng cafe. Mới ăn vào cảm thấy nó ngọt quá đi, nhưng sau khi chấm với bánh mì thì cũng được. Kem xốp, hòa quyện dịu dàng với cà phê, không bị tanh. Chỉ là ăn đến nửa ly, bánh mì đã nguội, thì cũng chẳng còn cảm thấy gì cả. Nói không có gì đặc biệt (về mặt ẩm thực) chắc cũng không quá. (Rate 7.9/10)

Mình đi vào buổi tối, không có bà chủ ngồi hơi rề xíu cũng không bị chửi kk, trải nghiệm dịch vụ với chị chủ và các bạn pv bình thường lịch sự vui vẻ. Mọi thứ sẽ hoàn hảo nếu trước mặt mình không phải là ba cái xe rác chất đống. (Tuy nhiên mình cũng chả để ý mấy)

Túm lại, với giá 35k cho một ly kem trứng kèm bánh mì thì mình cảm thấy hơi hơi overpriced một xíu, (Vì trong SG 35k mình có thể ăn được một tô hủ tíu bò kho). Nhưng cũng hợp lý thui vì thương hiệu lâu đời được marketing tốt cũng như nằm ngay tại trung tâm đắt đỏ. Lâu lâu đi du lịch nên ăn cho biết --- tất nhiên mình nghĩ món kem trứng này sẽ rất đặc biệt đối với những ai có kỷ niệm, ký ức tuổi thơ đối với nó, chỉ là mình, một gen z sinh sau đẻ muộn không nằm trong số đấy. Worst service. They overcharge you if you are a foreigner. I communicated with the receptionist by pointing directly at the menu because they can’t speak English. I pointed at the apricot/plum juice, and the receptionist asked me if I want apricot or plum. So I chose plum and handed a 20k cash as the menu stated, but then the receptionist said I need to give them a 50k. I asked why, and he said they don’t have juice but only coffee. The weird thing is the coffee costs only 30k...
