The Annam House — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Cafe Annam House is my top favorite coffee shop in Hanoi.

The first time I knew about the coffee shop was via Facebook ads. I was genuinely captivated by the light green hues of the second floor. And the minimalist yet stylish design of the coffee shop left a lasting impression on me.

After that, I viewed some photos of the shop and found out that the location is in the center of Hanoi. I thought I would visit the shop for a try.

The first impression I had was that the route to the main coffee shop was extremely beautiful. I still remember that memory from that day. Upon entering the main coffee shop, I was captivated by its stunning beauty and elegant design, leaving me in awe repeatedly. ^^

That was my first impression, and that is what I called "Love at first sight".

Writing a detailed review of Cafe Annam House is challenging because I find it perfect, and I feel this space isn't sufficient to express my thoughts fully.

In the coffee shop, both the staff and owner pay attention to details and care for their customers. Because details matter to customers and make beautiful things happen.

The second or third time I went there in the evening, that was in winter, and a staff gave me a small box that contained boiled water. I can hold it in my hand to make myself warmer.

Another time it rained hard at 6 p.m, and I didn't have anything to cover my bag and my laptop. I couldn't go home because my laptop could get wet. A staff member gave me some big bags to cover my laptop, and I could go home without any worries.

Another time it rained hard in the afternoon, and when I got to the shop, I was wet and walked into the shop on my bare feet (my shoes were wet too). A staff member offered to give me a pair of sandals (they look like Crocs) to wear and a hairdryer to dry my clothes.

I have to say that the staff in the coffee shop are also really caring and welcome me every time I go to the coffee shop.

About their drinks, I also have no problems at all. I often drink hot chocolate, and I like hot chocolate here. Having sampled hot chocolate at various coffee shops, I have a solid basis for comparing the flavors of chocolate across different establishments. Their hot chocolate drink is better than many other coffee shops I have gone to.

I also try many other drinks here, like fruit juice, and I find them okay and have no problems at all.

There are many other things that I have to compliment and want to add here.

The restroom is always clean, and there are no bad smells.

If you ever tried their drinks inside the coffee shop, the lighting in the coffee shop enhances their drinks and can brighten your day and mood. If you go there and want to have a peaceful place to read books, work, or study, Cafe Annam House is a great place. There will be enough lighting for you, from natural light to lights within the shop.

The music in the coffee shop is also great and well-curated by the owner, and really perfect for the setting. The music can range from French Romantic to instrumental pieces.

If you notice, even the security guards of the coffee shop are also kind to customers. Have a problem and you can ask them, they will help.

All coffee shop staff also wear a standard uniform, indicating professional business practices. I also have to say their uniforms are beautiful and differentiated based on seasons.

If you follow their Facebook page, you can see that the coffee shop often updates about their new drinks or products. What I want to highlight is that they frequently emphasize and share detailed information about their material suppliers and the origins of the products they offer. This transparency fosters trust in customers, helping customers feel more confident in their choices.

In general, Cafe Annam House is a great coffee shop in central Hanoi. I definitely recommend anyone to go there and try coffee and drinks.

Different people have different tastes; I understand. But I hope that you will have the same thoughts as me if you go there often.

Nếu để nhận xét công tâm nhất về đồ uống, có lẽ Annam chưa nằm trong những quán tủ của mình. Với những ai quen dùng đường hay đang tìm kiếm "đậm vị", "khẩu phần lớn", chắc Annam sẽ không phải là nơi phù hợp. Đồ uống ở Annam thiên vị thanh dịu, với mức giá cao so với mặt bằng chung. Thành thử menu trông có vẻ không thân thiện trong mức thu nhập hạn chế.

Nhưng đổi lại, Annam mang đến cho mình cảm giác "nhà", giống như "House" trong tên quán. Mình tìm đến Annam không qua các bài đăng về một quán cà phê gặp gỡ bạn bè hay ngồi thảnh thơi cuối tuần, mà xuất phát từ nhu cầu tìm nơi ngồi làm việc 8 tiếng/ngày nhưng không mang cảm giác cứng nhắc như co-working space phổ biến. CAH làm được điều đó. Hơn cả, sự mến khách của "người" CAH vượt xa quy chuẩn quán cà phê thông thường. Hospitality của CAH là tiêu chuẩn của dịch vụ khách sạn. Lẽ dĩ nhiên, trải nghiệm mỗi cá nhân là riêng biệt; có thể tiêu chí của mình không cao. Với mình, nơi nào có không gian sáng sủa, nhà vệ sinh sạch sẽ (ở CAH, mỗi ngày đều có người dọn dẹp riêng), người ở đó lịch sự, tinh tế và hòa nhã - ấy là nơi mình muốn đến lâu dài.

Mình có thể ngồi xổm, tựa lưng vào góc tường đọc sách trên kệ mà chẳng lo nhân viên nhìn ngó, đánh giá. Biết mình thích ánh sáng tự nhiên, các bạn sẽ lên kéo màn che khi nắng gắt ban trưa dịu bớt. Dù mình chẳng ăn trưa, nhưng các bạn cũng nhắn: nếu có cần quay lại cơm khi cần, lò vi sóng luôn sẵn sàng.

Quán có bán bánh, bán đồ uống. Tất nhiên, họ sẽ phụ thu nếu bạn mang đồ từ nơi khác vào - đi đâu cũng thế thôi, nếu bạn biết có quán không phụ thu, vậy thì qua đó ngồi sẽ thoải mái hơn.

Quán có không gian đẹp, bạn muốn chụp ảnh lưu lại kỷ niệm thì dẫu là khách hay nhân viên, sẽ chẳng ai muốn ngăn cản. Nhưng hãy lịch sự. Bạn lên thay trang phục, không ai phiền, nhưng hãy nhẹ nhàng và tinh ý, vì khách làm việc như mình cũng cần vào nhà vệ sinh. Nhân viên có nhắc nhở, chớ lên google phàn nàn và chửi bậy; hãy xem lại cách cư xử của bản thân trước đã: là quán vô lý hay mình vô ý? Rồi các nhóm tới thay quần áo để chụp thương mại ơi, các bạn thực sự cho rằng không ai phát hiện ra mục đích của các bạn hả?!

Tầng 2 được quy định dành cho membership - những người trả tiền hàng tháng để có chỗ làm việc. Nếu là khách vãng lai, có nhu cầu lên tầng 2 ngồi với mục đích học tập, bạn có thể đăng ký day pass - không cần mua thêm đồ uống, rồi ngồi tới lúc nào cũng được. Còn là khách ghé quán để trò chuyện với bạn bè, nếu quán nói không thể lên tầng, đừng quay ra quở mắng họ.
