IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FOOD!!! We were staying in the area and spotted this restaurant as we passed by. We decided to stop in for dinner, and were we glad we did. There is nothing fancy about the décor. The seating consists of low chairs and tables. This is similar to many establishments throughout Vietnam, where the food is the star of the show, and there is no added on charge for ambiance.
We ordered Clams With Spicy Butter, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, Grilled Shrimp with Chili Salt, and Sauteed Garlic Spinach. Every dish was prepared to perfection, so the flavors of each ingredient stood out. Most noticeable was the freshness of the seafood. Every dish looked exactly as it appeared on the menu. The only shortcoming was on our part. We should have ordered a few bánh mì to sop up the sauces. Not savoring every drop of each delicious sauce is bordering on mortal sin.
The entire staff was welcoming, friendly and efficient, without being in the least way pushy. As for the pricing…This is one of the great bargains we have experienced in Vietnam. With beer, the bill came out to be a total of 200,000 dong for two of us
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we will return a number of times during our...
Read moreI found this place, while looking for an old favourite, which had closed due to Covid. And thank goodness I stopped. On initial inspection, place looked open, clean and inviting, so I took a chance. Sure the menu includes very local food like a few different versions of snails, clams and other seafood, but also has veggies and I noticed on the menu – fries!
For me, I love the morning glory and scallops (grilled onion grease). Well that was the first time I visited. I have since returned for some of the surf clams (sauté spicy butter) and OMG!! They are just as described, in a (not to spicy), but very buttery sauce. And if you’re hungry, get the bánh mì for dipping!!
In saying all of this, the food was sensational. The owner/chef Uyên is very personable, friendly and inviting. Pricing… So cheap. Most dishes are only 49K and large enough. So, if you’re looking for a great seafood feast, you really do need to try out Quán Ốc Ken, which basically translates to Ken Snail Restaurant. Guaranteed you won’t be...
Read moreRode our bikes around looking for Bun Bo Hue. The place we went to was closed so we rode a ways looking for something and saw this place had people in it. I was thinking clams or snails do sound good.
They ran out of the clams so we got grilled onion and peanut oysters and razor clams with lemongrass! We also ordered egg fried rice and stir fried ong choy. Ong choy pic isn't pretty cause I separated and ate before the photo!
Everything was delicious! I would have preferred to taste the oysters a little more as the peanuts overpowered it.
Overall, the pricing was decent and cheap! I appreciated that price was on the menu.
We would definitely come back again. The lady was nice and was speaking English to us. Friendly and tried to get us to come...
