I almost didn't write this review because I wanted to keep Hoi An's best kept secret to myself, but I was told I shouldn't gatekeep. We purchased from four tailors while in Hoi An, and I wish that we'd come to Le Quy first! Fair prices and feels familiar from the get-go.

Other tailors may be more eagle-eyed or fashion-first, but they come with a significant markup and heavy sales tactics; they give you one price to start and then change at the very end after you've sunk a lot of time and energy. Le Quy has none of that sales pressure nonsense, and is able to give you a straight answer about price before choosing to put time and energy into your design and material choices.

Her shop doesn't have the widest range of materials, but she is willing to source the correct material for you if it is available in Hoi An. I was looking for a particular shade of blue which wasn't readily available, but came back the next day and she had found the correct shade after going early in the morning to the wholesale fabric markets.

I gave her a blouse to copy which was made exactly, and she was also able to come very close to pictures supplied for other pieces.

Le Quy's business is family-run. Unlike several other tailors which send patterns and designs to factories to be made en masse, her immediate family does the sewing.

Terrible experience at this tailor. I wasn’t that interested in making a tailored dress since I was leaving Hoi An to Da Nang in the evening but Lê Quy said that it’ll be doable within a couple of hours. She took my measurements quickly and I showed her a picture of what I wanted the dress to look like. She said no problem, and to come back a few hours later. We paid the bulk of the price (500,000 VND). When we came back, the dress was extremely loose, had a totally wrong design, and very translucent given no inner lining. She said she will make the adjustments and mail it to us in Da Nang by the next day. 2 days passed before the dress was sent over and she asked for the additional 200,000 VND. I didn’t even complain about the delivery being a day late, yet she had the nerve to set a time for me to try the dress again at the hotel. Upon trying the dress, it was still extremely loose and measurements were definitely not made well. I didn’t like the inner lining either. She said that I didn’t have enough time in Hoi An so she couldn’t fix it for me - if that’s the case then she shouldn’t have promised a couple of hours turnaround time! We stumbled upon Quy’s stall in the market & her kindness is really what motivated us to buy from her. I am so glad we did, because all of our clothes came out amazing!!

My family & I bought around 4 dresses, 5 pants, 3 shirts, shorts & skirts. Quy helped us find inspiration for our designs & was very transparent about fabric & price. She was so knowledgeable & her advice on designs & colors is so appreciated. Quy is so friendly & sweet & made the entire experience great.

Once we decided on what we wanted, she took our measurements & we came back the next day for fittings. It took two rounds of alterations since we had more time in Hoi An & wanted everything to fit perfectly. Quy was so receptive to feedback & had great attention to detail.
