I found this café online with glowing reviews and high ratings, so my husband and I decided to check it out. When we arrived, I asked the staff if we could sit upstairs. She said we had to order downstairs first and then bring our drinks up, which was fine.
But as soon as I went upstairs (with a big sign saying “Good Vibes Upstairs”), holy airball—it was like a selfie studio. More than 10 girls in two groups were swapping spots in every corner of the shop, leaving bags and jackets all over the tables while they posed. I spotted one couple quietly sitting there, and the look on their faces said it all: tourist trap.
Back downstairs, we ordered a coconut coffee and a milk coffee. When they came out, we were shocked. We’ve been in Vietnam for almost a month, and these were by far the tiniest servings we’ve seen—yet priced nearly double compared to other cafés in the area. My husband’s drink was gone in about three sips, leaving him with half a glass of ice. My coconut coffee also looked nothing like the one on their Google menu—the top was flat and level with the glass, not that nice tall “mountain peak” style they advertised.
To top it off, the people sitting at the next table were shown a QR code to leave a Google review—and in return, they’d get a free coffee. Suddenly the sky-high ratings made sense.
Bottom line: if you’re looking for selfies and overpriced coffee propped up by free-review gimmicks, this is your spot. If you actually want to relax and enjoy a decent cup,...

Read moreThe ambience is pleasant, and the staff is very kind. However, they were sold out of over half the “All Day Breakfast” (all the paleo-friendly…) items on the menu as early as 6pm. They said they had no idea when inventories would run on any given day, as demand simply changes day to day and they had to get their ingredients from Da Nang. I had travelled almost 30 minutes to come here, as this is one of the highest rated cafes in Hoi An serving this type of food all day, so this was disappointing.
The berry smoothie bowl I was suggested to order instead similarly did not have any visible berries. I was told this was because they were blueberries blended into the yogurt. This may have been true, but, if so, my impression is that it was a very small amount of blueberries imported from North America, hence the cost and smaller amount used in the dish.
If all of this is true, would it make sense for the cafe to source some more of their ingredients locally? Or have other inventory practices? Could that lead to better experiences (and maybe even in some cases prices) for customers?
The Internet tested quite fast, but for some reason it also operated quite slow.
The ambience is again very nice, and I would still come back despite them being completely out of all the dishes I was originally...
