So yesterday, my sister and I went to try a vegetarian spot in Hoi An. We were kind of wandering around, not sure where to eat, and ended up picking this place called Mẹt after finding it on Google Maps. Honestly, it was a lucky shot. We ordered two simple vegetarian dishes: bánh xèo and phở xào. But here’s the kicker within THREE seconds of dipping that bánh xèo into the SAUCE and tasting it, I just knew this was the one for me in Hoi An whenever I’m craving veggie food. It was sooo good. The sauce is this magical mix of green lemon, sugar, vinegar, and some secret ingredients, and trust me, it’s totally worth it. The menu is a bit small, but everything is made with such care. Every dish is on point, and the flavor balance is perfection. I'm not gonna lie, I actually loved the sauce so much that the server was so sweet she came over to check if the flavor was to our liking.
I seriously recommend this place to anyone who’s into veggie food it’s so well-done 😍 Oh, and shoutout to Amy, who was our server. She was amazing, super friendly and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed. So yeah highly recommend this place if you're ever in the mood for some delicious, comforting vegetarian...
Read moreThis place is one of the biggest disappointments I’ve experienced in Hội An. The food here feels like it was created purely for unsuspecting tourists, with almost zero authentic cooking skill behind it. Rather than showcasing the richness of Vietnamese cuisine, they serve up made-up dishes that simply don’t exist in real culinary culture.
Examples include things like “stir-fried phở” and their so-called “Bún Chả Hà Nội” — both are travesties that bear little resemblance to the real, traditional dishes. The flavors are bland, unbalanced, and completely lacking the finesse and authenticity that Vietnamese food is known for.
It’s clear they are more interested in dressing up fake “local food” to sell to tourists than actually respecting the heritage of Vietnamese cuisine. For anyone who truly cares about good food and cultural authenticity, this restaurant is a place to avoid at all costs. Hội An is filled with genuine local eateries and family kitchens — places where you can actually taste the heart of Vietnam. Sadly, Met Hoi An is the opposite: a shallow imitation, and frankly, an embarrassment to...
Read moreI recently discovered a hidden gem in the Vietnamese restaurant scene. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the authentic atmosphere and the inviting aromas that filled the room. The decor was simple yet tasteful, creating the perfect ambiance for traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
The highlight of my visit, however, was the exceptional service—especially from our server, May. She greeted me with a warm smile and remained attentive throughout my entire meal without being intrusive. May knows the menu inside out and recommended a few specialties that exceeded my expectations. Her friendly and charming demeanor truly made the evening special.
The food itself was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Pho Bo, a hearty beef soup, and the fresh Banh Xeo, which was perfectly crispy and filled with the best ingredients. Every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and an authentic delight that transported me straight to Vietnam.
For anyone looking for outstanding Vietnamese cuisine and heartfelt service, this restaurant is a must-visit—and if possible, ask to be served by the...
