Rare is the occasion when I rush to give a restaurant review, especially on New Year's Eve, but Echitora Izakaya deserves no less. Amidst the sometimes frenetic cacophony of Hoi An, this is an oasis of calm marked by Michelin-worthy Japanese food and a lovely Zen dining area upstairs, with air-conditioning! The wait staff are all so professional and welcoming...always obliging, and providing their service with genuine smiles, and friendly conversation. Foodwise, the salmon sashimi was the best I've tasted in a long time..they use high quality shiso leaves, ginger, soy sauce and grated wasabi. The scallops were super fresh, and grilled to perfection. They were my favourite at tonight's meal, but my husband preferred the grilled Wagyu beef steak. The chef did an incredible job with the takoyaki, with a melt-in-your-mouth octopus concoction. Echitora has only been open for two months, but with food this good, it won't be long before they're the hottest ticket in town. Book now, before...
Read more1 / 1 What a treat to find such a great restaurant in Hoi An! We have spent a lot of time in Japan, and we really love the food, so our Japanese cuisine experience in Hoi An came as a real surprise. We tried numerous dishes and we found the food to be exceptional. We particularly liked the salmon belly sashimi, tempura prawns and grilled eggplant. The overall attention to detail really stood out – the quality of the ingredients, the preparation, the sauces, the condiments, the presentation and service, all combined to make it a totally unexpected and very memorable experience! And it’s not only the food that gets attention – the décor is also very authentic, with a focus on pale wood and simple furnishings. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine, head here for a real treat. Your tastebuds will love you for it! This was a stand-out during our...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I wanted to enjoy something other than Vietnamese cuisine tonight so we decided to give this little Japanese sushi spot a try. I started with sake. They have a nice selection. Prices are a bit high but I kind of expected it from my visit here in Hoi An. We ordered the chicken karaage, the beef udon soup, the shrimp tempura roll and an assortment of sashimi. The chicken karaage was delicious and a generous portion, my girlfriend loved her beef udon soup and the sushi roll. I thought the sashimi assortment was good. I didn’t not expected it to be anything more. The wasabi was freaking awesome! I have not had a wasabi paste as strong as this place offers. I absolutely loved it. If you’re looking for a break from Vietnamese cuisine, give it a try. The service was good and the place was clean. I would definitely...
