Read moreRéhan’s photography speak for themselves; they draw you in at first glance as you walk down the street, and the longer you look, the more captivated and curious you become. So you stroll in to investigate and instead of being the one to spectate, you are being stared at by over dozens of portrait photos, all with so much depth and story embedded within their eyes. Yes, just like they say eyes are windows to the soul. I think I am beginning to see them now. I have spent two long afternoons sitting on the blue couch of the gallery, doing my own reflection, writing and photography edits while thinking about Réhans work. He isn’t just a photographer who takes pretty photos. He’s a storyteller, adventurer, truth teller, a humble human being who is willing to reach out to isolated communities and become a part of the by sharing and giving. He doesn’t just take (photos), he gives back, which is the essence of this and adds beauty and depth to his work. I paraphrase his words that the key to a great portrait is in the interaction and connection you make with the person. He seems to use his heart to connect with the people and thereby is able to capture the authentic and real expressions, the true character of the person. I think this method is what allows the model to not only give consent, but to confide in you and shed barriers and show vulnerability, without reservation- and that is what Réhan captures and focuses on. He relies on his relationships with these models to tell the stories you and I are so captivated by. It’s like he is exhibiting the art of being a decent human being.
So honored to be in the presence of his work and to be so moved by both his photography and words....
Read moreI love photography, and I know Rehahn's photography work from social media. I know he is very popular and has amazing art with his skills.
But sadly, today when I came to this 'free exhibition,' I was shocked by the staff woman. She suddenly yelled at me, 'Excuse me, you just came without permission,'. I don't completely remember how she said it, but she was mean.
I hadn't realized she had just finished talking with someone when I arrived at the entrance. Instead of using those words, for some visitors... it would probably be good if she had just said 'hello, is there anything I can help you with or others...' with nice words.
I was shocked for a few minutes. But then at the end, she still smiled when I told her that I didn’t mean to just go without asking for permission, but I knew she was talking with someone when I arrived, so I was waiting my turn.
She still gave us some other recommendations for parts of the museum, which are in other areas not far away, and we also went there because we love photography, art, travel, and human interest.
A good place to visit, I know this is a free place , no entrance free and I’m coming here not just for take a random picture or selfie, of course I want to enjoy the art and learn something from the picture.
but I just wanted to share my experiences today and want to give some ideas about how to...
