Food was mainly beautiful. The butter paneer was delightful and had a bit more spice to it than you would get at home which was great. Food was plentiful and the place had a great range of beers, better than a lot in the area. One issue was we ordered poppadoms, we received them quite late and they had two in the portion and half of one, it was as though they had just taken it from a table they had just cleared and served us it, tasted slightly stale, had to prompt to get the dips they're advertised with too. Word of warning, they make every customer do a five star review before leaving. My partner did one as our server was great and the food was nice, and the server basically stood with us, continuously refreshing his feed until the review came up on Google, and basically made us wait until the review was there as proof. Read moreI didn't eat here as I sat down in the restaurant it wasn't the most comfortable atmosphere to sit in
Very cold atmosphere/environment and being stared at by the staff
The main reason why I left without ordering here is when I see people being encouraged to review by offering them a free drink it discourages me from wanting to dine there. Not many people are going to show a negative review and then expect a free drink
This creates higher than usual reviews without the quality to balance against the reviews
Other reviewers have mentioned the costs being higher than elsewhere in Hoi An. That doesn't bother me if the quality reflects the prices but when I see venues trying to boost their reviews with free drinks I don't want to support that venue
Do it honestly or...
Read moreMy mom and I stumbled across Majaraja completely by accident. We were stuck in the rain, our shoes wet and our spirits damp. We were absolutely lost without my dad and had no idea which way our hotel was in. And when it seemed like all hope was lost, I spotted Maharaja and we immediately staryed laughing at the irony of the situation.
We had been craving some authentic Indian food in Hoi An but found nothing. However, Maharaja offered delicious, wholesome meals that satisfied our cravings. The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere with hindi music playing in the back, and attentive servers who were extremely kind hearted. The briyani was rich, flavourful and paired perfectly with a hot cup of chai.
I highly recommend this amazing place to both locals...
