When I left, someone asked me if food was good. I said "It was ok, thank you!" and strangely, they didn't ask for a positive review. I'm giving them one anyway, because everyone there was dressed as a pinguin, and I love pinguins. The service was good, maybe almost slightly intrusive, as the staff stays nearby, but suppressing his presence as a ninja until you made the right choice for your stomach, so you forgive them anyway. This was Turkish cuisine, not libanese, but a few parts of the meal were common in Libanese cuisine too, such as the falafels or hummus, for instance. Alas, I can say that several times in the past, I was offered better quality falafels. The meal I chose, a vegetarian option, and consisting of falafel, hummus, fries, a kind of salad/blend of fresh veggies including tomatoes (which was surprising for my palate and the best part of this meal) and such, was ok(ish). But maybe the meat options are better! It's just that sadly, the place seems too trendy or fancy, the staff is dressed much better than I do on a journey, but the food lacks love, magic or something that could make me come back there. So in contrast to the secondary positive aspects, the meal felt sad and lonely (well, that's if meals feel anything at all, really!). The price might look just very slightly expensive for Vietnam (but I violently don't care when it comes to eating awesome falafels and hummus!), but really nothing exaggerated either. I don't know the cost to produce baklavas in Vietnam (or if they use real honey versus liquid sugar here), but they were about 2-3 times the cost that I pay in my occidental country, in general (although, in the better places where I had whimsical baklavas, the price per unit was maybe 3$ CAD, so who knows? maybe it's fate, that you have to pay so much for Turquish pastries). Especially in a place like Saigon, the price was reasonable overall, should I add. The meal brought to me was safe to eat (freshness, cleanliness), as well. I think the team does its best to provide you with a positive experience, so why not...
Read moreFirst of all congrats on opening a new Turkish restaurant! Exactly what we were missing in Saigon! We visited once (so far) and hopefully will come again. The highlights from our order were: mixed kebab platter - delicious! lamb iskender kebab - so juicy! The tomato sauce was perfect, lahmacun - awesome! Turkish tea 🔥 lentil soup (not on menu, you should ask for soups)
I understand the restaurant has just opened and needs time to reach perfection. I would like to point the following things to consider improving: RICE!!!! It’s super important to cook the rice the Turkish way. Please please please stop serving plain tasteless basmati rice. Or at least add salt when cooking the rice. Otherwise it’s impossible to eat. the bread served with lentil soup was too hard. I wish it was fresher/ softer. lack of waiters at high prime time. We waited too long for tea to be served. And even longer to get more tea. By that time we had baklava on our table but not tea. I guess waiters should be aware that baklava should be served together with the drink. I think lahmacun was ready to be served but sitting and waiting for the waiter. Because when the waiter brought it to our table finally - lahmacun was already soggy in the middle. Or I advise to serve it on a bigger plate, so they don’t be stacked over each other. the waiter wasn’t aware that iskender kebab should be served with yogurt. He brought the iskender, and after I mentioned that no yogurt came with it - he brought me a mayonnaise dressing. So it took extra 15 minutes before I finally got my yogurt. And I’d reduce the amount of bread in iskender. the pistachio baklava was delicious, didn’t like the walnut one. We ordered baklava for take away and at home we realized that they gave us a few pieces of “old “baklava. They were dry and hard. maybe add a pot of Turkish tea, so clients can refill their cups themselves. having high chairs for toddlers would be...
Read moreThis place serves authentic Turkish food with excellent seasoning and meat quality. The meat is so much more juicy and fresher compared to other similar places we have been to. The ambience is also very cozy and comfortable. They also served us Turkish tea at the end of the meal which completed the whole Turkish dining experience.
Since the restaurant is new, there are still a few things to improve. With these improvements, I am sure they can make their name in city center favorite restaurant list.
I believe they should designate someone who acts as a controller in term of operation. We had both lunch and dinner there since we love the food. Both times when we came, someone was cleaning up. One time the cleaner was sweeping the floor when we came in and the dust blew up all in the air. Another time when we were eating, someone was cleaning the washroom and the bleaching smell was so strong that we could smell while we were eating. I talked about this to the waiter but there was nothing they could do as the cleaning already took place. They should have done all the cleaning prior opening time or if necessary during opening time, they should not let clients come to the areas where the cleaning was not done.
Although the waiters were all seem very friendly, a lot of training should be done. They made mistake about drink order 2-3 times despite we kept reminding no ice.
It would be great if they can direct clients where to park their car or motorbike as the pavement is very restricted for parking or it should be mentioned in google so easier for clients to make trip there.
Side dish is nice but it seems very little compared to the meat portion. There should be a bit more of balance so it gives a nice harmony for diner.
Other than that, we have a great experience. Especially the chef is super attentive and very nice. We would definitely come back here again with our...
