We ordered fries, tempura, two curries, and ice cream.
The fries and tempura arrived first. After that, one curry came much later, almost after I had finished the first one. The second curry for my friend came afterward. My friend suggested I start eating before my food got cold since the restaurant was quite chilly.
The curry was good but kinda small ( In my openion) As for the ice cream, it resembled more of a slush than actual ice cream.
Unfortunately, the server had difficulty with English. For example, when I asked for a Coke, she said they didn’t have it. I glanced to my right and noticed someone else with a Pepsi-Cola
I thought, "Hmm… maybe they consider that to be cola," and I asked for it. However, she still insisted they didn’t have it.
I then mentioned, "I don’t mind if it’s a different brand; I know you have Coke and would like to order it."
After that, when I pointed to the drinks list on the menu, she asked, "Oh, a Pepsi?"
Yea thats a coke a said.
She looked confused and still didn’t seem to understand me.
When I tried to order ice cream, the menu only said: two or three kinds. I asked the server about the flavors, because on the menu, they dont mention any Flavours.
I pointed to the five different scoops with various colors. Surely, the brown one was chocolate, the white/yellow one was vanilla, and the pink one was strawberry.
I inquired about the other two scoops pictured on the left, which were white mixed with brown and pink with a little red on top.
The server said, "That’s vanilla."
I asked, "that is also vanilla? But what’s the brown stuff inside?"
The server looked confused and replied, "Vanilla?"
I asked again, "Are you sure? Do you have a menu where the flavors are written? I think my language might be confusing you."
She repeated, "Vanilla."
I said, "So there are only three flavors?"
She replied, "Yeah?"
I asked, "Then why does it look so different from the usual vanilla picture on the right?"
She answered, "Oh, that one is sold out."
I responded, "Oh, so you do have more than three flavors?"
The server insisted, "No."
I said, "So you don’t have vanilla anymore?"
She replied, "Yes, we do have vanilla…"
At that point, I gave up and said, "Just give me that then…"
The other customers laughed a little and said: dont worry we also had a lot of...
Read moreyou know how japanese curry out of the box made at home is hella good? imagine how good the japanese curry is in the restaurant that only does curry. this explains why earlier, when i was on tiktok, i stumbled across this lady who wrote a poem about how her dad loves coco ichibanya so much. i didn’t get it then, but now i get it.
i ordered the pork cutlet omelette curry and added eggplant. SO GOOD. i’m not usually this much of a fan of japanese curry, but here i am. everyone helping us has been so nice in addition to everything else. also, i don’t usually order smoothies at dinner but our waiter insisted. it was like a strawberry milkshake and im so happy with it. the worst part of the meal was taylor swifts discography playing during dinner lol
if you were to ask my husband, “what was your favorite meal in vietnam this time?” he might be inclined to say coco ichibanya, but would say a vietnamese dish out of...
Read moreOverall an 8/10 for being a store outside of Japan. Definitely better than all the ones in the USA. First time seeing the CoCo branded forks. May also consider selling franchise merchandise since I already have an official shirt, hoodie, ballcap, spoon, coffee mug, etc that I always buywhen I visit any of their locations. Staff seemed interested when I mentioned how much I love this franchise and have repeatedly requested to open up my own store. I recommend a local favorite combo of menu options based most popular custom built plate. My favorite is the Sasebo, Japan's triple chicken plate(cutlet, fried nuggets, shredded/stewed) Chicken Zanmai plate plus adding cheese and soft scramble eggs. Their fried chicken is super tender and flaky, and nothing else so far has been close to their hand built chicken. A must visit for the average Coco's fan...
