We visited here on our last night in Vietnam after 6 weeks travelling expecting a great last dinner. We were enticed by the menu, which looks great and has lots of options for both meat eaters and veggie’s, as well as the good google rating.
We were really disappointed with the food which was bland and not well cooked. This was the most expensive meal we had in Vietnam. I would have accepted this if the food was great but we felt like we had fallen into a tourist trap being extremely overpriced and not even close to the standard we have come to enjoy over the last 6 weeks.
Our white wine was served in martini glasses, weird but ok, maybe they ran out of glasses, but it was also served warm with no prior warning and the only solution was to add ice.
We had to send back one of the dishes due to the quality but this was kindly swapped for something else on the menu. The food was edible but we felt robbed considering what we paid.

During my recent trip to Vietnam, I was lucky enough to discover Hai Restaurant in Saigon, guided by the excellent reviews on Google. I went with a friend, and from the very beginning, the experience was outstanding.
The place is cozy and welcoming, with a warm atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy. The staff is absolutely delightful – friendly, helpful, and always smiling. I would like to give special mention to Ms. Oan, who took care of us throughout the evening with exceptional attention, great recommendations, and a kindness that truly stood out.
We followed her suggestions and tried several dishes from the authentic Vietnamese cuisine, all of which were delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Every bite was a delightful surprise. Congratulations to the entire team at Hai Restaurant for their dedication and for offering such an authentic and memorable experience. I can’t wait to return to Vietnam and dine again at this...

wrapping banh xeo in rice paper seems strange but it’s mindblowing!!! the egg on the banh xeo was extremeeeely crispy and all the flavours that went into the wrap were so perfect. grilled catfish was also great, it’s meant to be wrapped as well. breaded eggplant and sour fish soup were both good too but not as special as the wrappable things in my opinion.
tommy served us and demonstrated how to wrap the banh xeo correctly, and he certainly has skill!!! our wrapping paled in comparison haha. be careful to wrap with only 1 rice paper at a time (they often get stuck together!!) if you take 2 the texture will be harder and not...
