Cocotte - Da Kao — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Recently, I had the chance to discover this French restaurant though my partner, and I thoroughly enjoy it. The vibe quite nice and cozy, suitable for both family & friends. I know they also have two other locations, in Sila and Ben Thanh, all of which are in the center of the city and easy to find. Based on my research, Sila location seems more luxurious and larger. They also have space to host the events & parties, making it worth a visit. Maybe next time, if I celebrate an event, I will contact them to make a booking. Moreover, the staff is friendly and made me feel at home. Additionally, I was satisfied with the affordable prices compared to other French restaurant out there. On top of that, the food and drinks here are delicious. It's make me mouth water just to think about it. Location: since it's not out on the main road, you'll have to search for this place and invest in getting there. It's not too difficult to get there on feet or by getting a ride. I found this place because my accommodation is in the same alley as this place.

Ambience / vibe: it has a nice retro vibe, well done with the interior. You'll get the European (French?) retro vibe.

Food: had a veal stew, was excellent. Portion was good too (came with a side of pasta noodle and entree bread).

Service: the best! There were two staffs at the time and they both very accomodating and courteous....

It is a lovely bistro with good food and okay service. The onion soup, beef carpaccio, and beef ravioli are good. They are flavourful. While for duck confit with potato, it is kinda normal: the meat lacks flavour and potato worse than the other course. Snail and beard also normal. Creme brûlée is considered great: you can taste the smooth texture of the custard base and the layer of caramelised sugar is at the right point. Overall, the food is good here.
