Cyclo Resto — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

We ordered the family meal for 180,000 per person. Every dish was cooked exceptionally well. I enjoyed the spring rolls (which are more like croquettes), the pork with veggies, and the perfectly balanced soup. The fish and lemongrass chicken isn't what I would usually order but they were cooked very well. I can imagine lovers of vietnamese cuisine would enjoy the flavours more than I did. The meal felt exactly like what we needed after days of very rich food. A homely, hearty meal. Unfortunately I feel like elements of the service let this place down. Vee (who first greeted us) was great. She explained the menu and came to check on us as we ate, and tourists will be glad to know she speaks great English. The other servers weren't so good. They needed a lot of guidance and encouragrment from Vee to clear up tables, serve food and even get the coffee started.

We also had to move seats because of the ants on the wall and tables on the left side of the restaurant. I know there's not much they can do to control this in Vietnam, but I can't exactly give this place a 5 star only for you to go and expect a perfect experience when there are ants to contend with.

Few things to consider. First - there is nothing like menu here. You may only take a “Family meal” which consists of 5 dishes. You cannot chose dishes, you may say that you don’t want some ingredients (a.i. pork, coriander). Second, it costs 160000 per person and cannot be shared by 2 persons. Why? Because portions are very small. Soft drinks are payed separately. Other things: food - good, but average, nothing spectacular. Place - hard to assess, I felt overwhelmed by the compliments written on all walls and ceiling and guilty that I do not share them. Price against food and service - definitely overpriced. The place is well advertised on TripAdvisor, so only tourists come here, no locals. While eating we say few couples coming in and out as they we attracted by the “fame” of the peace but surprise by the rules of ordering food and...

Careful foreigners this restaurant is a scam. Please believe me because this my honest review so I can prevent scammers on foreigners. I suggest you order food that shows a picture of the food.

The family set dinner is a scam, I ordered two sets of this family dinner and they only provided my family one set and not two. On their menu they don’t have any examples or pictures of this family set so the quantity is incorrect and misleading. Also the family set dish doesn’t have a price so they can upsell you. Please be cautious on ordering from this restaurant.

Please see my picture and ask yourself if this is a “2” sets for a family gathering of 8 people. They only provide me 4 shrimp and calling that a 2 set...
