Read moreHubby wanted to try Cajun crawfish in Saigon to see if it would compare to back in the states. We came here because it had the highest ratings and seemed the cleanest/newest (which mean there was AC). We only ordered 1lb of crawfish, medium spicy, Cajun seasoning because we wanted to try. Also got an order of French fries just because.
The Cajun seasoning was definitely Cajun, but lacked everything else that made it how it was supposed to taste back on Louisiana (needed more butter, orange juice). The service of course was spectacular, too good almost. Although the Cajun did not hit the right flavor profile, we would probably come back in the future to try the “Juicy” seasoning which was originally recommended by our waitress but we opted for Cajun.. well because it’s also in the name of the business. Of course of waitress noticed we did not finish our crawfish and did her due diligence of asking what was wrong with the food, we simply told her it wasn’t fit to our taste and to not worry.
Even though we used gloves to eat, she brought out a bowl consisted of water, lemon, and rau răm (Vietnamese cilantro) to was our fingers.
Definitely want to come back to try the juicy seasoning with shrimp instead...
Read moreI visited Cajun Cua in Ho Chi Minh City, hoping to enjoy authentic Cajun cuisine. Unfortunately, my actual experience was quite disappointing. The wait was very long, and when the food finally arrived, it didn’t resemble traditional Cajun cooking. Authentic Cajun sauce is usually rich, well-balanced with butter and signature spices, creating a harmonious and enticing flavor. However, the sauce here was overly oily, with undissolved Cajun seasoning, making it hard to enjoy. It lacked the finesse and depth that a Cajun dish should have, leaving me unsure of how to pair it with bread. The crab meat was sweet and fresh, the only highlight of the meal. However, the clams were very disappointing - shrunken and obviously not fresh, likely stored cold from the previous day. This is unacceptable, as fresh seafood is the cornerstone of any good Cajun dish. As a fan of Cajun cuisine, I can confidently say that the food here does not capture the authentic flavor. I also wonder if the 5-star reviews on Google Maps came from people who have never tasted real Cajun food. That said, the staff was friendly and attentive, which added a touch of comfort to...
