Terrible terrible experience at this place. First of all, the entire place is small and claustrophobic. We went there as our tour agency had booked a set lunch for us. We had ordered starter, main course and rice. We got a call from the staff to confirm our lunch. Despite this when we went, there was no sign of anything being ready. After 15 mins they served us papad. Then they gave us dry naan bread which looked horrible. Then one gravy came after another 15 mins. We kept waiting for our starter, other gravy and rice but nothing was coming. The staff kept saying they will bring but they did not. The Indian staff was extremely rude and was not answering our questions about when the food will come. Finally, a Vietnamese staff ( woman) came and apologised . Again no clarity on how long the food will take. Next to us was a group of 12 which had ordered a la carte and that food came within 10 mins. I don't understand how this can happen when set menu is pre ordered? The hotel could have said that they cannot give us the food if they had no preparedness. We literally left from there without eating and lost our time and money. Our flight was already delayed and this added to our agony. Many people I spoke to later said they experienced the same. Please avoid this place...
Read moreI have been a regular customer at Banana Leaf restaurant.During post Covid when hardly any customers there,I used to be there with no customers and the owner used to be so nice and friendly. But recently he got collaborated with few tour agencies for serving tourists and its very obvious for a good business and we appreciate it.But lately his behaviour totally changed.I booked taxi from Airport to Banana Leaf restaurant only to enjoy the food but before I and my friend could enter the door the owner stopped us entering and guarded the door when asked was told that today he has 100 tourists coming in soon and he can’t anymore entertain walk in customers. This is from a very friendly restaurant owner to a perfect businessman who changed as per time requirements and supply and demand criteria.I think a person working with hotel industry which demands a high degree of hospitality is not acceptable. Felt so embarrassed after spending time and money during heavy rains. Finally have to visit another nearby Indian restaurant.Hope the restaurant realises soon that business models doesn’t last longer this way.All the best to my friends and recommend to call and check if any group is visiting to avoid...
Read moreOrdinary food, just OK! I was attracted by the curry fish head post and thus visited the store in a weekend afternoon. Ordered the Malaysian curry Salmon fish head and the Mutton Chukka. They chopped the fish head into small pieces and you can find that the fish head portion was very small but they served it with an extraordinary big dish with eggplant and okra. The taste is OK but not that one will order again. The same for the mutton, the taste was pretty salty with nothing special and if you know that normally the flavour of Indian food was pretty rich with ingredients. The Malaysian Char Kway Teow (which I ordered for take away) was the worst. It only has two little shrimp and a few little pieces of squid, ( the authentic one may carry Chinese sausage and blood clam), and they used a lot of dark soy sauce and made the dish looked dark and unattractive at all. The taste, again is OK but not the one we are looking for. Service was very good and they serve a lot of tours serving basic lunch set. So if you want to grab some food, you can come But if you are looking for good food, you...
