I've eaten out about 400 times in VN and this is possibly the worst. The initial promise of the decor (and the price) soon falls apart. They played thumping disco music all night, unbelievably inappropriate for the setting. Ruined any ambience.
The aircon is good but the chairs are not. Almost all the food was inedible; all of it flavourless and dry. Except the abalone in the soup which were flavourless and wet . They served 3 king prawns in a hotpot for 10 people... And nothing else except a few boring vegetables. We had to order more prawns. They were tough anyway, and didn't come with wet towels or finger bowl. I asked for one and got pointed to the (too few) dry tissues on the table
The stuffed crabs were so dry and tasteless as to be inedible. Luckily they only served 5 for the whole table.
The famous pheastant-and-phoenix entree dishes looked like a rooster. The fried spring rolls were the least inedible part of the meal, but unremarkable.
And so on...
And they put the expensive red wine on ice.
I can only think this place is one big...
Read moreWe went as a family for a special occasion and two of the meals came first and the next two came 15 minutes later. By the time the other food came, the other two people had already finished their food. They also gave us the wrong food to the wrong people. When we told them that they blamed us for the mistake. The waiter who took our order should be the one giving us our food and making sure we got the right food. If the food came at the same time, we would have known that they gave us the wrong food. They also took my number and haven’t tried contacting me to compensate for their mistake. I have worked in very similar restaurants and we never made such terrible mistakes, if we did we would have compensated the customer. The service was shocking and they didn’t seem to care about us or how we were enjoying the restaurant. They were wearing head pieces for communication which is unnecessary in such a...
Read moreThis Vietnamese restaurant is a show stopper in terms of interiors, and it is hidden up a daggy back staircase and pops up like an oasis in the dark. Staff don’t speak much English and the menu isn’t much help selecting as it is HUGE and despite photos it’s very difficult to select the right dishes hence the low food rating we have given. This could one day be the best restaurant in Ho Chi Minh with classic Vietnamese dishes and staff who speak English. With the right dishes it could be excellent to be fair but how do you find them when no-one can communicate? Brilliant for instagram and just for a gorgeous vibe. Water is priced outrageously, $6 per small bottle- they need to stop this immediately. Dishes are presented excellently and the whole presentation is a 10/10 but food massively lacking...
