This man is THE Dessert man. I’ve pinned a lot of dessert restaurants along my HCM trip, and I’ve always love my desserts with beans/sticky rice/coconut milk.

After stuffing ourselves in a vegan restaurant two streets further, I stumbled upon this shop.

I stand there looking at all these yummy desserts not sure what to order, I asked if I can mix and match he said nope. Then I spent 5 minutes there deciding what to order, finally picked one, this owner, he then poured me a little bowl of the other choice of dessert that I was undeceive with. Just two spoons full, but that’s all I need really. So Good!!! Sitting there people watching, I just can’t keep my eyes off one of the dessert that locals were ordering. Like a banana pancake, he asked me if I wanted to try, I nodded. Yum!! Everything was so good that night, don’t have a particular favourite...he charged me 15,000D; That’s what local was paying for one dessert. Which means he didn’t charge me extra for tasting nor being a foreigner. I cried a little bit, tears with joy.

This is a local street vendor with a very reasonable price of 14K for most desserts. The same would cost 25-30K at Benh Thanh or the tourist Street Food Market. The black eyed pea dessert was decent. Usually I like it thicker with more sticky rice, but this was okay. But I enjoyed the banh bo (white sponge cake) and banana cake combo better. They didn’t skimp on the coconut milk either. Opening time is anywhere between 5:30-6:00pm. There is a usually wait. Foreigners may feel a bit intimidated because the locals will skip you in the queue. Super duper amazing yummy banana cake and honeycomb white cake…. It was so good I gobbled it up in one sitting as fast as I could 😂😅 The boss is so friendly and speaks English so well to interact with customers ! Such a nice guy! His other partner is also so diligent to help keep the customers happy. This place is popular with locals couples families people driving by with motorbike… I understand why now.
