If you're in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and looking for a true taste of Southeast Asia—all Halal—under one roof, then DAUN Restaurant in District 1 is an absolute must-visit.
DAUN offers an impressive variety of Halal dishes from across Southeast Asia, including favorites from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, the Philippines, and Thailand. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared with authentic flavors and presented with care. Whether you're in the mood for Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang, Mee Goreng, Vietnamese Pho, or Thai Green Curry, this place delivers quality and taste in every bite.
What makes DAUN even more special is the warmth and professionalism of the team, especially the owner and manager, Soffian. His hospitality stands out—he greets guests with genuine friendliness and makes sure everyone feels welcome and well taken care of. His passion for sharing Southeast Asian Halal cuisine shines through in the food and the atmosphere.
The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and centrally located in District 1—perfect whether you're a tourist or a local. It's also a great spot for Muslim travelers looking for Halal food that’s both authentic and diverse.
I highly recommend DAUN Restaurant to anyone craving delicious, Halal Southeast Asian cuisine in Saigon. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an experience....
Read moreI try not to leave negative reviews in general but I have to do so at The Daun Restaurant: I was very excited to eat here & try Malaysian food for the first time. I had never had it before and was happy to have the chance to do so. Unfortunately this was one of the worst meals I've had in Asia & one of the worst I've had travelling. The sauce was tasteless, the beef was tough and flavorless, the vegetables were just onions and bell peppers and the rice was hard. The request I had made about my dish wasn't completed & there were wood mite insects coming up from under the table trying to get on my plate. Finally, the price for my meal went up at checkout from 150,000 to 180,000 VND (the dish was barely worth 50,000). I found this to very deceitful as the menu should show the total price of the dish up front. The man running the place was inauthentic & kept trying to upsell me for drinks & appetizers and get a four star review. I hated my experience here and advize anyone considering it to go get a delicious Phó down the street at Phó Vietnam for leas than half the price I paid at this tourist trap.
Very disappointed that this was my 1st impression of Malaysian food. - If 🇲🇾 is your country you should make the food as good as I'm sure it really is at home & charge a fair price for it. Also,...

I ordered the rice noodles with spring rolls. The noodles were cold and stuck together, obviously precooked (they're supposed to be room temperature, but freshly cooked and not sticking together in lumps). The rolls' dough was undercooked under the surface, they were very greasy tasting; I think precooked too, and dipped in the oil for reheating.
People: the one good thing about Vietnamese food is freshness! I shouldn't be left with a taste of grease in my mouth.
Upon telling the host, though, he offered me the food on the house (which I had barely eaten), for which I give an extra star.... Sorry, dude, I feel bad because you were so nice, but the meal I had was worthy of a shopping mall food court in a small American town (seriously). Maybe the other meals are better???? I am confounded.
P.S.: what I ordered, I eat on a regular basis and love it. I also had it the evening before. It's one of my favorite dishes, so you know... I know how it's supposed to taste when prepared fresh and with love and all...
And apparently this place has all the trip advisor awards and stuff. And to this I say.... 😲 What's wrong...
