DO NOT GO IF YOU’RE A FOREIGNER. Went to this place because of the atmosphere and good-looking menu. First place we went to on our day layover in Vietnam and we were greeted with the most unfriendly staff. We were told to sit and wait to be given the menu which was fine. We sat there for several minutes and got ignored (locals who sat at a table beside us were greeted and attended to in under 5 minutes). After asking the waiter for menus it took another 5+ minutes; he had tunnel vision and paid attention to everyone except us. Another (obviously foreign) couple also entered the cafe and ended up leaving after receiving the same treatment as us. He was very attentive to tables that had locals, refilling their waters and checking in on them multiple times etc, however when it came to us, we basically didn’t exist. We had to approach him for the bill which he ultimately forgot about (he admitted this to us). He was too busy refilling other people’s drinks I guess. After this, he had the audacity to tell us he didn’t have any smaller bills and took our change as a tip. God...

I recently visited Trung Nguyen Café Legend (Thế Giới Cà Phê Trung Nguyên Legend) in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, conveniently located near major attractions. The contemporary setting is both simple and stylish, offering indoor and outdoor seating perfect for solo or group dining.

I went on a Sunday for brunch and found the menu to be full of local comfort food ideal for breakfast or brunch. I particularly enjoyed the Phở Khô Trung Nguyên Legend (Trung Nguyen Legend Dried Noodles) for VND89,000.

The main highlight of this café is its focus on Vietnamese coffee culture, with a selection of premium local coffees presented beautifully. The Thiền Cà Phê Sữa Đá Sựng (Zen Iced Milk Coffee) for VND189,000 was exceptional.

While Trung Nguyen Café Legend is more upmarket and expensive than regular cafés, it remains popular with both locals and foreigners. The service was a bit slow during the busy weekend, but the overall experience was worth it.
