Blatant Racism. Worst Experience Ever.

I’ve travelled to many countries, but I’ve never faced such open and disgusting racism like I did at this bar. Their closing time was clearly listed as 12 AM — we entered at 11 PM. First, they told us they were closed. When we pointed out the time, they reluctantly let us in but refused to let us sit inside, even though there were plenty of empty tables. Instead, they pushed us to sit outside like we didn’t belong there.

We tried ordering drinks, and were told they only had whiskey sour. After making us wait over 20 minutes, they suddenly said even that wasn’t available. While we waited, someone came over and told us, “we’re closing soon,” despite the fact that others — mostly white and East Asian customers — were being served and left completely undisturbed. Not a single one of them was told the place was closing.

It was crystal clear: they wanted us out. The message was loud and clear — South Asians are not welcome here.

This was my last night in Vietnam, and this disgusting experience ruined it. Up until now, I had a positive view of Vietnamese hospitality. But this place proved that racism is still alive and well in some corners — and they don’t even bother hiding it.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We walked in at 11 PM, well before closing time (which is listed as 12 AM), but were told by the receptionist that they were already closed. After a bit of back and forth, she reluctantly said we could sit and have one drink.

We initially ordered margaritas, only to be told five minutes later that they don’t have margaritas—only whisky sours. Fine. We ordered whisky sours. After waiting nearly 20 minutes, a different server showed up and told us they don’t have that either—the only option was a gin and tonic. Seriously?

To make matters worse, we watched other tables—specifically Vietnamese guests—getting served promptly with full drinks. Meanwhile, we were ignored and kept getting told they were “out” of everything we tried to order. After wasting an hour of our time, we were eventually told they were closed and had to leave—without ever being served a single drink.

Whether it was poor service, bad management, or something more disturbing, one thing is clear: if you’re from a South Asian background, don’t waste your time here. It was the most disrespectful and frustrating experience I’ve...
