QUÁN ĂN AN TÂM — Restaurant in Hue City

We came here after dropping our bikes at the Motorbike Rental nearby. It was already late and not too much was open. The owner looked like he did not expect guests and was eating, but as soon as he saw us enter he jumped up and made sure we had a great evening. We told him multiple times we were not in a hurry and to take his time, but I guess he just wanted to make it perfect for us. Since we didnt know about the food, he prepared small bites of many dishes instead of serving them in larger portions, like the menu suggests. He was very friendly, with a constant smile on his face. Everything was delicious and we had to order more, just because it was so good. In the end, we were amazed by the low prices - it was 180k VND (~7€) for all the food and drinks. Since we told him in advance we didnt have much cash on us, he even lent me his scooter so I didnt have to walk to the next ATM. What...

We were staying nearby and read the good reviews so had to try it. This is a fantastic find! The owner shows pictures to help choose - we had bbq pork noodles & salad (banh uot thit nuong), prawn rice pancakes (banh beo chen) - v different and pork and lemongrass skewers which you wrap in rice paper and salad(nem lui oc). We went back the next day just after 2pm and he was closed so tried later at 7pm and thankfully, he was open - this time we had fried spring rolls, sticky rice dumplings (banh ram it) - v delicate and crab soup - quite spicy but delicious. This chef is such a talent serving up local Hue street food with incredible attention to detail and good value. One of the best places we have eaten in our 3 week stay in Vietnam! One of, if not the best eateries I've had in Vietnam. A rustic kitchen with a homely dinning area. Every dish (and I ended up trying almost every dish) is cooked with love. I'm not from Hue, but if there were a taste that brings you generations of flavour, you'll find it here.

Owners are friendly and will introduce all the dishes to you with beautiful pictures and make sure it suits your preferences. You will end up wanting to order everything, go ahead and you will not regret.
