I was recommended this restaurant by the family who runs the hostel I'm staying in, as some of them are vegan - so I was really looking forward to trying the food here.
Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy it. My food was brought out very quickly, though concerningly quickly as it was within the same minute I'd ordered. The fried noodles and the dumplings were very cold, when they are not supposed to be.
I ordered nam cake, but they served me mostly loc cake on the plate, and only 2 nam cake - I do like loc cake a lot, but it wasn't what I ordered as I wanted to try something different. It just felt like they'd thrown together whatever leftovers they had lying around in the kitchen - and this was around lunch time, so it's not that it was towards the end of the day and they just didn't want to batch-cook food they may not sell, which albeit still a poor service but I'd be slightly more understanding of.
The nam cake was really not cooked well and had a very unpleasant texture. The loc cake was also not good at all in comparison to what I've had in other cities, which is disappointing as it originated in Hue so I was really excited to try it here.
The servers were a little rude, and mostly just avoided interacting with me. When it came to paying, I tried to call someone over a few times as they walked past me and looked at me, but they'd continue walking past and didn't acknowledge me. I eventually went over to them to pay as quite a while had passed and I had to get going, and they just took the money without saying anything. It was such an awkward experience.
A few other reviews have mentioned, but it might just be that they really don't like foreigners as I can't imagine the family who runs the hostel I'm staying in would recommend them if the food and service was what I experienced on my visit. The cost is very low so I cannot complain too much, but you really do get what you...
Read moreFirstly, I am very critical of food places. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years. However, I was pleasantly impressed. Although this rustic establishment may not appear large, the food is terrific. The chairs are comfortable. The meals came out quickly. The owner was excellent, efficient and helpful. We received generous servings.
Within the menu, we ordered: fried mushrooms and cabbage, hotpot, steamed rice flour rolls, mixed vegetables, fried noodles, and fried mushrooms. The food was delicious. We didn't need any seasoning because it was already perfect. The food was excellent value for money. The highlight was the fried mushroom with vegan mayonnaise. It was so good that we got two serves of this dish.
This lovely place exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this place for healthy, delicious and authentic food. It's wonderful to see how passionate people deliver excellent customer service. After eating a large amount of food, I did not feel bloated. Instead, I was energised. This place was an unexpected vegan paradise. I highly...
Read moreDelicious vegan food, almost criminally cheap. I had some Bahn cakes, they were little glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaf. Also mushroom with citronella (lemongrass?) and because that cane without rice I also ordered com - rice. I expected just a serve of plain rice but it came with extras on top - a delicious slab of tofu, some greens and lotus root. Also a cold soup. Amazing. Way too much food for me alone sadly - I felt bed for not eating everything. Also for complimentary green tea, which is the most delicious I’ve had, it had a hint of something else in it. All that cost me 46 000vnd. Translations on the English menu are dodgy at best, but when I started pointing to things I’d google image searched and the waitress said they weren’t available, I just went rogue. I recommend that option, almost positive everything is totally vegan...
