Great staff, polite and helpful. Beautiful spot. Atmosphere was ‘so so’. However, the food was awful. I mean really, really bad. We ate Tapas. It was a Sunday night 7.30pm. Halloumi was very oily and overcooked. It was swimming in the oil and was hard (texture) to eat. Cevice was lacking seasoning/lemon. As seen in the pictures, they were served with 6 toasted breads/rusks (you know the one you buy in Woolworth for $3 a pack) I am pretty sure Dumplings were frozen products that had been re-heated (and they were not cooked enough). The sauce was not good (personal opinion here) Prawns were either not fresh (frozen) or overcooked (I mean cooked and kept on a warmer for 8 hours type of over-cooked) sauce was ok (but nothing special). finally, cocktails were watery and not nice. I am confident there was barely any alcohol in mine. …And they ran out of the lobster and the lamb and another type of tapas (forgot what it was) $200 spent for a very very bad experience ($25-30 for each tapas. $25 for each cocktail) Not one dish or drink were acceptable. Extremely disappointed, choice was made based on reviews. Either they are fake reviews, or they delete the bad one or the chef was sick and the cooking was made by someone who did not know what they were doing, or they are not profitable and are serving bad food to try to make a profit. Either reason, a truly bad experience....
Read moreCame back and changed my original positive review, because my first experience here was good, then the last 2 have been absolutely awful and my meals have been fully ruined both last times / copped sass from some of the staff - that's actually unacceptable, given you're pricing for fine dining clientele. Service is average at best most of the time. The Chef overcooked / messed up my Wagyu steak the last 2 times I was there, what a poor sacrifice of a noble cow for him to butcher it like that. They used to do 2 sides for $25 too which was decent value, but now, it's plate by plate, because they just can't seem to live without that greedy extra $6 per head making you buy them separate! That's a few ways to make dedicated customers like me never ever return. Way to take a great model for a restaurant and totally ruin it. Last meal was so terrible, I refused to pay for the food / paid for my drinks and walked out leaving my overcooked, rubbish meal and sad sides sitting there both sloshed on the plate and presented with sass/ no love. What a shame. Started well & within 3 visits I've now decided not to return. Sydney's food scene really needs work in a...
Read moreI recently booked a farewell party for 10 people at Lavana Restaurant, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! They offered us the option to order from the à la carte menu, which was a huge bonus (extra points for flexibility!). The food was outstanding – from the appetizers to the main courses and desserts, every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. We were all super impressed! Our waitress, Lorraine, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. She was so attentive and made our evening feel even more special. On top of that, the chef treated us to a complimentary tiramisu, which was the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, we had an unforgettable night, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. Highly recommend Lavana for anyone looking to celebrate a...
