Christmas In Salzburg — Attraction in Salzburg

The Salzburg Christmas Market is definitely a charming spot, but it’s smaller compared to some other markets we’ve visited. It gets pretty crowded, but the festive atmosphere and beautiful backdrop of Hohensalzburg Fortress make it worth braving the crowds. I absolutely loved the glühwein—so delicious—and the food we tried was amazing as well.

One of the highlights for me was watching people iceskating—it added such a fun, lively vibe to the whole experience. While we were disappointed that we were unable to travel for Christmas, we were happy to support some local retailers by purchasing from their new online shops this season. I purchased a handful of Christmas ornaments from Christmas in Salzburg this year and was incredibly pleased with the entire experience. These ornaments are obviously made with care and not mass produced. The photos on the website do not even begin to give these ornaments justice. They are larger than I expected and the details are exquisite. Some of the ornaments have 3-D designs that provide beautiful texture while others offer breathtaking design work. This place is a joke. I was taking a picture to send to my sister back home to see was this the decoration she had requested me to buy. Before I could take a picture , an alarm thing went off in the whole shop saying “ no pictures to be taken “ . It was embarrassing also as the man looked at me angrily. I would understand if it was a museum with important artefacts but it’s a Christmas decoration shop in the middle of summer . I was so disappointed that I just walked off and they lost a potential 60 euro as a result. I explained to the guy at the desk my reasoning for taking a picture. He actually said he understands which tells me that he also thinks it ridiculous . As if I was going into the shop taking pictures of decorations....
