I recently stayed at this 4-star hotel, which is centrally located but a bit on the expensive side, and had a mixed experience.
The service was excellent; the staff was friendly, attentive, and really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable., There were several issues that took away from the overall experience.
First, we were disappointed to find out that the room we selected did not have air conditioning. This made the room quite uncomfortable, especially during warmer parts of the day, and we weren’t advised of this at all beforehand, which was frustrating. We had a really hard time resting, which can really make you drag the next day, not ideal when vacationing.
Additionally, while the hotel’s central location is convenient for exploring the area, the fact that it’s on a pedestrian street means parking is separate and requires a bit of a walk, a long walk. While this wasn’t a huge issue, it was an inconvenience, especially if you’re carrying heavy luggage or in bad weather.
Another disappointment, was the breakfast. For a hotel of this caliber, the breakfast had very limited options. For the price we paid, we expected much better.
Overall, while the service was fantastic and the location was convenient, the lack of AC, inconvenient parking, and disappointing breakfast made the stay feel less than what I would expect from a...
Read moreI‘ve never paid so much for so little. How this supposedly four-star hotel justifies its 300€ per night price tag is beyond me. We came to Salzburg seeking and — given the reputation that the price suggests — expecting an elevated hospitality experience following a week in the mountains but got nothing of the sort. Not one aspect of this establishment is more than mediocre other than the historical building that it sullied with tacky American-style pop art. How they got Home Goods to ship to Austria is a mystery. The breakfast is uninspiring — the produce was unwashed, the coffee comes out of an automated machine, and the quality of its limited selection is middling at best. Oh! Then there’s the bathroom in the room! I‘ve stayed in roadside motels with better bathrooms. Everything in there is cheap, the towels are tiny and scratchy, and items in the vanity kit literally disintegrated on my partner‘s face. Again — how anyone charging such a high price can refuse to deliver even adequate amenities to its hard paying customers is beyond explanation. I urge anyone considering booking a stay at this hotel to look elsewhere. Spend €300/night at a legit establishment or pay €100/night for a better quality stay...
Read moreI don’t normally leave negative reviews, but I do want to share my experience as I want other travelers to know what they are in for.
We paid €300 for one night here, and based on the price and Google reviews, we expected an above average hospitality experience. Unfortunately, the experience was more in line with a €100/night stay MAX. The decor and finishings are cheap and tasteless, the cleanliness of our room was barely adequate (ie coffee stained stained lampshades on the bedside table, hair in shower), and there was an unpleasant odor of wet garbage wafting into our window from the back of the building when we opened it to air the room out. The service was mixed but overall lacking in the true spirit of hospitality we expected. We have stayed in budget hotels in Europe before and are fine with a more bare bones/outdated accommodation when that’s what we are expecting and paying for, but I expected a much higher standard for the rate of €300/night. The absence of value for money made this an extremely disappointing stay. I believe there are better options...
