Austrian Parliament / Österreichisches Parlament One of the beautiful buildings with very impressive old greek style architecture in Vienna. Roman influences inside the building. The guided tour is very interesting and reasonably priced. Visit also during the night. The building is most impressive at night. A short walk from the Kertner Strasse and Opera. Good place for photography. Allowed to take photos inside and outside. Very recommended!

The Pallas Athene-Brunnen, located in front of the Austrian Parliament in Vienna, is an iconic and majestic fountain that pays homage to the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategy, Athena. The statue of Athena, adorned in her traditional armor with a spear and shield, stands proudly atop the fountain, symbolizing the ideals of knowledge and justice that align with the purpose of the nearby Parliament.

The fountain is surrounded by smaller sculptures that represent the main rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, adding a layer of historical and cultural depth. The architectural design of the fountain, combined with its grandiose scale and intricate details, makes it a must-see for visitors exploring Vienna’s historic center.

The setting is perfect for photography, especially with the Parliament building as a backdrop. This area often becomes a hub for tourists and locals alike, and the illuminated statue at night creates a truly magical ambiance. Whether you’re visiting for its historical significance, artistic beauty, or as part of your city tour, this spot encapsulates Vienna’s rich...

The sculptor Carl Kundmann created the statue according to the plans from architect Hansen. He was not able to see the finished statue as Hansen was already dead when it was revealed in the year 1902. The goddess of wisdom Pallas Athene holds in her right hand a small figure of Nike the goddess of victory and in her left hand a spear. She is surrounded by personification of the legislation (right side) and the execution (left side) of the laws. Directly at the fountain bowl, which consists of granite, the both main rivers of Austria, Donau and Inn, are represented by a female and male figure. Also the inside of the building is full of history and art. Whether entrance hall, atrium, pillars hall, reception room or the Reichratssitzungs hall which is reserved for special occasions: The history and architecture impresses...
