Mexicano Riverside is an absolute delight. They offer complementary nachos with pico de gallo and a choice of three sauces as soon as you sit down. The recipes are authentic, and they clearly don’t cut corners—the food is incredibly satisfying. Despite arriving 30 minutes before closing, the staff were welcoming and accommodating. In my opinion, this place deserves five stars.
I’m especially glad to have met the owner on a cigar cruise earlier this year; otherwise, I might have overlooked this gem. Having traveled extensively through Asia, I can confidently say that this Mexican restaurant rates higher than any others in the same category I’ve visited in years, even comparing it to experiences in Canada and the US. While I can’t directly compare it to Mexico itself due to the huge diversity in dishes, their food here is exceptional.

Interestingly, my stay in Phnom Penh coincided with Taco Tuesday, and since I had no dinner plans for the day, I took the opportunity to indulge. I ordered a variety of tacos including prawn, beef, pastor (pork with pineapple), pork with banana leaf, and pastor vegan. The prawn and shredded beef tacos were absolutely delightful and left me craving for more (I did infact get an additional prawn taco). However, the slow-cooked pork in the banana leaf was a letdown, as the texture of the tortilla resembled dried-up dim sum wrappers. Tried the fajita Friday special... Had the premium pork order (korobuta) and it was juicy and full of flavor
Came back again for taco Tuesday... Got my go to.. Al pastor... But also tried the potato and chorizo and the chicken mole tacos that were added since I first tried them and all I can say is that they should be on the regular menu... The chicken mole is to die for.... Worth it at twice the price
