First let me state that I do not write reviews but after seeing all the positive reviews on this business I had to share my experience. This place was an absolute waste of time and falsely advertised.
We got a coupon from the hotel we were staying at by Niagara Falls so decided to go. The advertisement said that we would be given a full tour of how chocolate is made etc. then given strawberry dipped in chocolate at the end. We assumed we would be able to sample chocolates and go through the factory to see how the workers work and make the chocolate.
INSTEAD...
We scheduled our visit so that we would check out of the hotel, walk around Niagara Falls some more then go to the "chocolate tour" for 2pm. When you first walk in it's an old, run down looking store. The chocolate in packages also looks old and stale. As we were waiting for the "tour" to begin, we saw a couple tubes of chocolate labeled free samples so we tried them. They were horrendous. The milk chocolates had a weird strong taste to them--as if they had added a spice of some sort. The white chocolate was just completely odd. And the fruity chocolate tasted like fruity gum hyped with sugar and dipped in their weird spices. The only samples that we didn't mind were the M&M looking chocolates. They tasted like 10 year old M&Ms with no peanuts in the middle. Anyways the tour had begun and we were summed up behind the glass of the factory. At no point were we actually allowed to enter the factory. An elderly lady began the "tour." She had pictures of how chocolate grows etc. After the history behind chocolate production and their factory, she began the "tour." No one was working that day (it was Family day) which made it even more boring. She pointed at a couple machines behind the glass and stated what they do. Then we went to the "decorating" area followed by "packaging and molding." The entire tour seemed more like an advertisement for the factory than anything. She mentioned how we can book to do team nights/kids parties there, etc.--which makes one wonder how sanitary the entire factory is.
To sum up, the trip was a waste of our valuable time that we could have spent more at Niagara Falls. It was falsely advertised and a complete...
Read moreMelissa the tour guide was very RUDE to me during the chocolate tour. This is our second time here. The first time she swore 2 times and I didn’t say anything. This time I came back with my sister in law and mother in law and husband. I had already done the tour so I was on my phone, but I was at the end of the bench not bothering anyone and my sound wasn’t even on. So the tour guide Melissa decided that she would call me out and embarrass me in front of the big audience that she had. Instead of being professional she looked at me and said, in a snotty voice…”Are you taping me?” I said no I’m not. She said are you sure and I said NO! I told her I had better things to do. She then said WOW! And then went on with her tour. All she had to do was ask people to not tape her or not have their phones out during the tour and I would have not had mine out. Another thing she could have done was to ask me when everyone was moving to the next window in PRIVATE if I was taping her. She didn’t have to do that and embarrass me in front of everyone. I ended leaving in tears and complained to the manager that was on site. She was very nice and told me that she would have a talk with Melissa. She said that she could have her come to see me and apologize to me but I told her that wouldn’t be a good idea because I was so upset. The manager was very nice and even gave me a drink. Then I went to my car to wait for my family to finish the tour. Just a note that I suffer from social anxiety and I get very upset when someone embarrasses me that way. Melissa was UNPROFESSIONAL and she needs to take a class on MANNERS and CUSTOMER SERVICE as she is RUDE and when working in public you need to be able to keep your COOL and be able to handle people WAY BETTER THAN SHE DID. It was the 12:00noon tour on Friday August 16th, 2024. Please send this Melissa to classes before she does another tour and upsets and embarrass someone else. Also with so many people with mental health issues these days people need to be more mindful because I could be on the verge of suicide and that could have sent me...
Read morePlans were made to come here in time for the last time slot for the factory tour. But due to the limited time I had and trying to make it to other sites before heading back to Michigan, I had just missed the last factory tour by about 15 minutes. I still went here because I was on the hunt for some good chocolate.
The ladies there were extremely nice. I was still curious about the tour because there are giant windows throughout the building that look into the factory side of the chocolate making. I asked one of the ladies about it, and she soon found out that I had intended to make it to the tour but could not. She then gave me a free chocolate covered strawberry (this would have been included with the tour). I became more excited than what I already was.
The chocolate here was smooth and sweet. It had more of an authentic taste to it over traditional corporate brand chocolate bars because of its balance in sugar flavor. I am the type of person who lets chocolate melt in my mouth rather than chew it. I like to savor it for as long as possible. The chocolate here definitely satisfied my taste bud's desires.
The chocolate, nuts, and other desserts are fairly priced here. I would concur that this chocolate factory gave me a...
