Wow - this is an inexcusably poor studio with sub standard health and safety, hygiene and understanding of Yoga - I do not know where the majority of teachers train but I can assure you it is not an India.
Having run multiple marathons in humid conditions, I have never built up such heat in a class. The class description did not allude that this would basically be a workout, as so often North American ‘yoga’ practise seems to entail. No breathwork, no focus on Pranayamas, though the opposite of fast moving ‘hit’ type pace asanas l.
25 minutes in I was not the only one struggling; majority of the class just sat on their mats. The teachers go too hard and if you’re practising yogic breath, you risk overheating. Multiple students left the class during.
Only with 15m left did they turn off the heat.
No fresh water on site.
The cherry on top? The class cost $66 CAD including Tax - the management team did not respond to Three emails from me over five days to help rectify an error.
This is not yoga, this is not safe and this is not how one runs a business. Good luck to those ‘yogis’ who think this is what...
Read moreThis has been my yoga studio for ten years, and I've felt really lucky to live nearby. I love the variety of yoga that happens here: you don't get stuck in staid sequences and the instructors bring so much flavour to it. It was a pioneer in using consent cards for adjustments, it has long been a trans-friendly space. I love that they're committed to making yoga more accessible, with $10 (tax incl.) classes each day, plus some cheaper community classes. Yes, the changerooms are small and get crowded, but the practice rooms themselves are nice. As other people have pointed out, because the classes are so influenced by the instructor, one person's L1 class might look different than someone else's. Because I've been practicing quite a while, that's fine with me, but I can see how that could be intimidating, but it's yoga --- you can always rest and adjust to what's right for you. Getting the month trial is a good option, because you can try out different teachers and find ones you like, which can make all the difference. Linseed is a wonderful teacher and especially great...
Read moreKula is the best yoga studio in the city, probably all of Canada.
I attended classes years ago, well before the pandemic, and I have been constantly searching for a studio or class that would give me the same vibes as Kula did.
Everything about the Kula experience is 10/10. The studio is always clean and the front desk staff are always beyond welcoming and friendly. They really make you feel comfortable and are so genuinely kind and helpful. What really makes Kula so special, in my opinion, is the teachers and the classes.
In the years I was practicing away from Kula, I was never able to find a class, studio or teacher that came close to the vibes Kula offered me.
The teachers here are truly amazing at what they do. You will leave so relaxed and filled with gratitude. They really get you out of your head and connected with your breath. Its like a huge hug for your central nervous system that leaves you in a blissful state for the rest of your day. Can’t say enough good things about Kula. So glad I came back, I will never practice at another studio in...
