The restaurant is beautiful and has such character about it; the ambiance and decor is wonderful. That being said, me and my friends had a very unfortunate experience here at Terroni… The service was a bit slow; we understood that the waitress must’ve been busy with other tables, but there were at least two separate occasions where one of us had to get up from the table to get the waitress’ attention. We weren’t checked on often…
Then the food. ohmygoodness… The food was decent. In my opinion I’ve had much better pasta before, especially considering the price, but it was pretty good overall. But my friend was brought the wrong pasta, TWICE! Originally a dish that was meant for another table was brought to us and set in front of my friend assuming it was hers but we told them that’s not what she ordered. Then we got a ricotta ravioli dish but she ordered the butternut squash dish (she’s lactose intolerant) — we told the waitress and she was trying to gaslight my friend saying that both ravioli’s have cheese and that that’s what she ordered etc etc. We ended up having to make a big deal about it for her to accept the mistake and take the pasta back and finally replace it with the dish my friend actually ordered. I really didn’t appreciate that. Additionally, I ordered a pasta and asked for no parmesan cheese but later decided I wanted to sprinkle a bit on top. We asked for some parm on the side but we were told by the waitress that the “manager was waiting near us to listen to whether we ordered cheese or not” because a couple friends had the seafood pasta and they strictly don’t serve cheese with that dish, but the cheese was for me and they refused to bring it. The waitress kept saying that this was like “nonna’s kitchen; the food is the way it is as if you were at nonna’s house” — I personally have never met a grandmother who would be so unaccommodating. Didn’t appreciate the staff’s attitude at all; didn’t appreciate the sentiment that the manager was ‘spying on us’ over cheese?! And I really didn’t appreciate the waitress trying to convince my friend that the ravioli that was brought to her was what we ordered when it clearly wasn’t. I could tell the waitress was a kind person but she didn’t handle our table properly. The only saving grace was that they comped my friend’s pasta.
Personally, I don’t think I would go back. The food, for the prices, wasn’t worthwhile to me and the service and overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Not impressed by my experience here and I don’t think I would personally recommend this...
Read moreI spent hours researching italian restaurants in T.O and Terroni came on multiple cross referenced lists. Picked Adelaide location as it came with high praise. This was our 24th anniversary, which we did mention. We drove 2.5.hrs to come here, hoping for a wonderful experience. Walking in, first impression was amazing, exactly what we were looking for. Old world charm, perfect lighting, ambience was amazing. We moved outside as it was a little busy and was recommended by the host. Patio was nice but did not compare to inside. Waiter asked if we wanted water, gave 3 choices which seemed upscale to us. Brought us the wrong water which we were not going to compain as it was just water and free right? Not exactly, they charged us almost $8 for water!! Maybe we should have been informed of that beforehand. People were wearing jeans and t-shirts, pretty casual vibe so this was unexpected. Waiter asked if we wanted bread which my wife was excited for, unfortunately it came on my last bite of my meal and my wife's second last bite. Food was good but for the reviews not up to what we thought it was going to be. Delivery of of our pasta was quick i will say and presentation was great. Not once was anything mentioned about our anniversary and we weren't looking for free desert or heaps of praise. Maybe a congratulations would have been cool. Not necessary but it shows they are paying attention. After we paid, there was no thanks for dining with us, see you next time....nothing....lol. we tipped 18% for a subpar dining experience. He literally gave us the debit machine looked away and asked if we wanted a receipt. Then he walked away. We said thank you to him, not sure if he heard us. He looked experienced and definitely wasn't new. For driving as far as we did for a very special occassion, this was kinda disappointing to say the least. We dressed up nicer than usual, nicer than alot of other patrons, used manners, didn't eye roll, huff or complain about a single thing. Neither my beautiful wife or I wanted to have any negative vibes or show disappointment for each other as it was an anniversary. We tipped because we are not dirt bags and understand the importance of tips for servers. Our middle daughter is a server and tips help, especially while shes in University. Anyways, overall quite disappointing for such an important night for us. Potential is definitely there for a great overall dining experience. Terroni has to just do better, we did our part. Side note, i'm not a local guide, not sure why it says that on my...
Read moreDined here for the first time, we've heard many good things and surprisingly enough we never made the trip down to have a meal.
Our table was ready promptly at 7:30
We had arrived early and waited in the bar area, checked out the menu.
My wife and I typically order an app, two mains to share, and (sometimes) dessert.
Our server was quick, we asked her for recommendations/choices and she did not disappoint.
We were torn between the selection of pastas/pizzas and we had shortlisted them for her.
The Food:
Burrata (Delicious, comes with crostini, prosciutto) enough to share for 2. The cheese was very creamy, however I would have included some black pepper on my own version - but i'm not a chef
Tonnarelli alla Norcina (homemade spicy sausage, pecorino, italian black truffle shavings)
Good portion size, pasta was al dente, good chew to the noodle, flavor wise the pasta was good, however wish it was seasoned a little more? No complaints otherwise.
Affitisciuta (tomato, mozzarella, smoked scamorza, homemade spicy Italian sausage)
The pizza arrived hot and fresh - you gotta eat this one quick though otherwise it cools down fast, good crispy bite ton the crust, very thin, good flavor on the pie. I took my time eating this cause I wanted to be a gentleman and not absorb a pizza like a garbage compactor - plus my wife would be embarrassed.
To Finish: I heard really good things about the tiramisu, my wife also has a sweet tooth.
We ordered one to share, it was just enough.
TIramisu was light enough and wasn't overkill in ordering. The hype met the expectations.
The Drink:
The restaurant also has a make your own gin and tonic special - My wife ordered an elderflower tonic with gin - she found the aromas very pleasant and was not too sweet to drink.
The Service: While we arrived early, our table was ready right on time, after we were seated our server came almost right away.
She stepped away for a sec to grab us water. We were ready to order by the time she came back.
After ordering she immediately came back with some much needed bread, olive oil and some chili oil. (My wife gets hangry so this was perfect)
Our burrata came out quickly (we also did not know there would be bread with it)
After maybe 10-15 minutes, we got our mains.
We were out the door in an hour or so and was very pleased with the experience.
Our server was friendly, staff was friendly overall, can't say much other than pretty satisfied.
Would come...
