I've done multiple escape rooms and this had to be the worst experience.
My friend and I booked the latest slot (10pm) and arrived at 10. There were two girls working who barely looked up when we got there. One of them told us we should have gotten there 10 minutes early when we said we were there for the booking we had made, and that we were already losing time in our booking. The other went through all of the rules very quickly and let us into the very dark room (we were doing the occult room). While I understand that they were going for a spooky ambiance, it was too dark to see anything.
We were unable to figure out the first puzzle so we used the iPhone to ask for a hint(which obviously brought you right out of the ambiance). We had heard another group enter the lobby just before and were waiting for a response that wasn't coming, so my friend knocked on the door and said we needed a hint. One of the people in the party told us that the people working there weren't at the desk so we wasted 5-10 minutes waiting for one of them to respond. She did eventually.
The room and puzzles were not cohesive and didn't make sense. We were unable to finish in time so one of the girls came in and asked us if we wanted to know what we should have done, but she seemed bored and disinterested.
I have worked customer service my entire career (I'm 35 now) and would NEVER treat customers who paid $25 each for a lackluster, under hour long experience so rudely. For me I felt the most frustrating thing was that one of them kept telling us that they had to set up our room for the next group, even though we knew we had booked the last slot and that they close at 10:30. I understand they had other things they wanted to do outside of work, I've been there as well, but you knew we were coming at 10 so at least pretend to care. I hope there are actual managers who know that this is not the way to ever treat customers. We weren't expecting to win the escape room and I can even forget about all of its faults, but the rudeness should be addressed and the people working that night should be better trained. My friend and I will not be coming back, we both think and hope that there is better training in place for the people you choose to represent...
Read moreWe booked the last slot for House of Occult at 10pm. We arrived just before ten and we had barely checked in when we were told we were already losing time on the room. Both hosts were rude and unfriendly from the moment we walked in the door. I have done many many escape rooms and in fact used to work in one and I would never have spoken to customers or had the attitude these two girls had this evening.
So once we were rushed in and I mean so rushed that the girl sped through all the info and intro so fast "because we were already losing minutes in the room" that we had no idea what was going on.
We entered the room and the hints were given on a cell phone which obviously ruined the whole ambiance not to mention there was no one monitoring the room so when we asked for hints we had to go through a bunch of questions to establish where we were of course wasting more of our precious minutes that we have already lost by being on time.
Part of the first puzzle was incorrect so even though we "read" it correctly and new what we were doing we had the wrong number which was very frustrating. Usually in the majority of escape rooms I have played once you use an item you generally don't need to use it again, that is not the case in this room which was confusing. The puzzles were disjointed and it was far too dark to see anything.
Honestly I think I would have forgiven the poor design and cell phone if the attitude of the staff had been better, but they were rude and very unwelcoming from the start. I knew I had booked the last slot in the room and when I asked what the big hurry was and why we weren't allowed our alloted 45 minutes the girl kept telling us she had to get the room ready for the next group which I knew was a lie. I'm assuming they just wanted to go home. First experience and...
Read moreA complete waste of time and money. Had a 10:30 appt. for the motel 66. As we started our first clue, you look for a button to hear a message. We had found the button and pressed it many times but nothing happend. We started to wonder if something was wrong. We then noticed a cord was unplugged from the computer screen , and kept pushing the button. I didnt want to spoil the visit by opening the door and asking if something was wrong but after 20 minutes i felt i had to. Sure enough , the room was not properly reset and the button did not work. The computer was unplugged. So there was a huge portion of our time wasted. The employee left us and we went on to the next clue. We had figured out this next clue right away but something else was wrong. The sheet just didnt line up to any numbers on the wall no matter what way you put it. The employee got bored of watching us try, so he came in and tried to show us himself, but he could not do it either. Something was also wrong with that clue and he apologized for it. So he ended up just giving us the code for it and we continued. At this point there wasnt much time left, and he gave us the next clue aswell cause we were so far behind. And it was finished shortly thereafter. So we had figured both of the first couple clues out right away, but since the room hadnt been checked over thoroughly, we had wasted atleast half of our time or more trying to figure out something that didnt work. With the time that was left, he had just given us the answers as we were so far behind . What a terrible experience. I reached out to them shortly after hoping for a reply, via their email and they had nothing to say. I have also noticed more than one review in the last two weeks where the room wasnt reset properly. What a joke! Don't waste your time and...
