Exceeded my expectations! I had been hesitating for years about trying Yoga Public. I always had some excuse or resistance. Finally, I decided to stop complaining about being out of shape and not having a studio close to home, and I gave it a try. Iām so glad I did. Here were my main concerns (and how they were quickly addressed): ⢠Parking downtown: I figured āfree 2-hour parkingā meant two tiny stalls that everyone would fight over. Nope! Thereās a full lot right next to the building with around 25ā30 stalls. You never see that downtown! ⢠Walking down Portage with a yoga mat every day: I didnāt love the idea of lugging my mat around. But during orientation, they showed me a storage area where students can leave their mats. Problem solved. ⢠Low class attendance (according to the app): When I looked ahead, it often showed just a few people registered, and I thought, āThis place wonāt be around long.ā Boy, was I wrong! The classes, especially at lunch are busy and full of energy. ⢠Time commitment at lunch: I worried about taking too long away from work, but the 45-minute classes feel like a full hour and fit perfectly into my schedule. ⢠Cost: I wasnāt sure I wanted to pay that much for yoga. But by the end of the intro offer, I didnāt care, I was enjoying it so much. To my surprise, they even offer a promo/discount if you continue with an unlimited monthly membership (donāt hold me, or them, to this, but it was a nice bonus!). The atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. All my excuses disappeared once I actually gave it a try. Yoga Public has truly exceeded my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just got notice of my second anniversary at YP. Personally, I choose my classes and I am happy with my choices. When I first started I went to all hot classes and that was frustrating for me because I felt distracted by the music, the talking, the heat, hard to hear instructions and lack of concentration. When I discovered Ashtanga, I found my Tahiti. Teachers are clear, room is quiet and I get the help I need to improve. For me this is what Yoga is about. Every now and then I go to other classes but just for a change and no one seem to care whether I am doing what they say or not. The classes are way too big, dark, hot and noisy for that. Not all teachers are equally skillful, it is because some are student teachers and one has to be patient with them and help them to improve by being a good student. I give this studio 4.5 points because it provides a welcoming, clean and roomy space, tastefully decorated, the added touch of tea, towel service etc. a one-stop shop and last but not least great teachers many of whom constantly upgrade their education to provide more to their students. I'm proud that we have this facility in Winnipeg. There is always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn excellent facililty, with skilled teachers and patient and knowledgeable instruction.
Mysore yoga is a terrific way for beginners to learn Ashtanga yoga, and is appropriate for all levels.
The instructors are very encouraging and patient. Their gentle, hands-on approach and one-on-one instruction have allowed me to learn at my own pace and skill level.
What I truly appreciated was when I was given alternative poses when I was beginning, as well as when I came in with an injury. I was able to maintain my practice and gain strength. As my skill level increased, they helped and encouraged me by adding poses as I improved.
There are also opportunities to attend workshops to deepen our learning and understanding in our practice.
I highly recommend Yoga...
