My impression of the hotel doesn’t match either the high praise and superlatives that it has earned from some, nor the condemnation that it has earned from others. My experience was more middle of the road: found this to be a competent, reliable representative of the Marriott name. Yes, it is older than the Courtyard next door and the rooms could use a sprucing up and maybe an extra small table or chair– but they are spacious and well furnished as any good member of the Marriott brand. It's not a JW, but It's a good Marriott. ||The amenities are up to par – the gym is definitely above average, with a selection of cardio machines, and 7 or 8 life fitness stacked weight machines, a dual pulley, and a variety of free weights beyond the customary barbells. The pool is small – and its shape makes it unsuited for laps, but there was no one in it when I used it, so it was ok for a short dip. It is lightly heated and when it is 15 degrees out, perhaps no others dare to swim. The jacuzzi, steam, and sauna were in perfect working condition. ||The hotel has good dining options: a coffee counter with light snacks, a 24 hour convenience store and a lobby sandwich shop/bakery. Plus three or four full service restaurants, and the mall with plenty of food next door. Room service was tasty and fast. You will not go hungry here. ||Lastly, yes, the hotel is a bit outside the center city / downtown area. You need to use Uber and taxi to go anywhere. But you get a great view of the mountains -- it really is stunning any time of the day-- it's not congested, and the area seems clean and safe. So it worked for me.
