I was the in-patient and staying at their semi-private room on 18/F for 4N5D for a minor urgent surgery and medical treatment.

Firstly, the receptionists on G/F was very impressive! But sorry NOT in a good way. Tbh quite impolite when I was giving them a not so satisfying answer on their questionnaires about the flu symptoms. (I didn’t get their question quite clearly hence I was giving a “not-so-satisfying-answer as I was talking about my own URTI tonsillitis symptoms! Sorry I was a patient anyways mind wasn’t too clearly). Then I asked about the room type as I remembered the nurse told me that there was a private room being hold for me so I asked about it. It sounds like the receptionist wanted to kill me right away. I was like, OMG only the first step and I wanted to leave BUT I CANNOT because my ENT doctor will be conducting the surgery on me the next morning. Then I took a deep breathe and went up to 18/F.

On 18/F, I could feel that all the nurses and assistants are very nice and friendly. Like, they’re your friends, mom and aunties. 🥹 It was a little surprised yet disappointed that some assistants got very strong mainland accent that I could not even understand quite clearly, non she could understand me. I said I feel dizzy, she asked: you have stomach pain? (I speak Cantonese!) Lucky that they’re not nurses otherwise it will be very worrying.

The facilities, bed, cabinets, table are very new and the bed was very comfy lol I even requested for a softer pillow after the first night and the assistant was being so nice to get me one extra.

The food are tbh very delicious lol not like hospital food although I could only had congees, cereal and soup penne but I can tell that the food are in good quality. Fair price.

The room wifi isn’t stable so I basically used my mobile data for my stay.

The only not very satisfying experience is that: the cleaners came to the room around 7am every morning. They talked and cleaned up very loudly. I was literally sleeping and being awake every morning by the noise. It sounds very low class not like a private hospital, not to mention a semi private room. I had been feeling very exhausted with the medical treatments and especially after the surgery so I had to ring the bells and asked the nurse to ask someone to close my door instead (almost every morning). I was basically occupying the whole room as there was no roommates with me so I don’t think they should leave my door open after cleaning.

I think resting is very important for the patients and so they should probably lower down their voices. It will be great if they can take it to the consideration for their internal...

Update: I was sick (unknowingly) with Covid two weeks ago. Too sick to think of going elsewhere since this was close to me and it was evening. Took my chances to go to out-patient here and again, absolutely rubbish doctor. For whatever reasons I won’t get into, I did not think it was Covid and didn’t do a test. Doctor insisted that it was just a cold. One look at how sick I was even the blind could tell you it couldnt have been just a cold. He didn’t ask me if I got tested for Covid. Again, doc had indifferent bedside manner and did not seem to take the time listen to my experience.

Honestly just rubbish diagnostic skills and medical care. Nurses were nice, again. (Which I really appreciate.) But I’ll never go there for out-patient care ever again for the rubbish doctors.

(Do they even read all the poor reviews here? Looks like many people have had similar experiences as me. ) ——————————————————————— Great experience with getting my Covid shot here. But below expectations with out-patient care. I had respiratory symptoms (not Covid) that were pretty serious and the doctor told me it was allergies. Even though I don’t have a history of having allergies-not to mention symptoms of this severity. And not that he asked about my history anyway. He did give me a few anti-inflammatory meds but mostly my bill went towards cough drops,Zyrtec, and panadol. I could have gotten these at a drug store. As a result I’m still not better and will need to seek more treatment elsewhere. Doctor was also indifferent. Poor bedside manner.

Nursing staff were great though on both...

Don't generally make a habit of visiting hospitals on holidays but alas. There is a good reason to have visited and I can say this with a serious face. I've seen robberies in movies that have taken longer than to see the out-patient clinic. I seriously ain't kidding when I say we were in and out of this place faster than I could get the required face mask from the vending machine outside which I refer to as the price of admission. The service was professional if not just completely rushed, there was none of the get to know how you're doing what your backstory is to why you were there. Just what's the problem? Feel pain here? Here's a prescription for some antibiotics, if you're not feeling better soon come back and see us. The price was reasonable at HK$600 for the visit and prescriptions. If you don't want the personalised service of a get to know you kind of doctors this is the most efficient hospital in the world...

My sister-law-gave birth in St. Paul’s Hospital. Her visit was actually the first time I stepped foot in the hospital. What I found in this new wing of the well-regarded hospital was a bit of a shock to me. Firstly, I noticed that the bathroom in my sister-in-law’s private patient room is not provided with disabled-accessible toilet and shower (Barrier Free Access). This is quite odd considering that it’s a patient room. It showed a lack of consideration for the sick, disabled, or aged. Secondly, I found all the lifts to be shared by patients, visitors and service (including dirty linens). This practice seemed to create a high risk of cross-contamination. This was especially worrying for a popular hospital in a city that had experience the highly lethal and contagious SARS back in 2003. For such a prestigious hospital like St. Paul’s, I would have expected better, safer facilities and management.

Not a very well run hospital and it starts from admission. Check in at G/F but then was asked to go upstairs to pay and come back. Adventist, Cannossa, Sanatorium check in are all one stop. Imagine if you are in pain or handicap. They also kept saying my name wrong and turned out they misspelt my name. So they have to spend another 10 min reprinting all the label and consent forms while I waiting in my surgical gown. After my gastroscopy and colonoscopy operation, I was awaken and kept waited in a common area with eight other patients (presumably also had the same operation) for 45 min. I had have operations before and always been put back to my room to rest. The nurses and staff are great but not sure who designed this kind of logistic that are so inconvenience to the patient

had a small surgery here coz my doctor operates here. basically hotel-like service, most nurses and staff are friendly - but just don’t expect everything will be perfect. it’s expensive but it won’t cure grumpy cats.
