Victory Garden (Jardim da Vitoria) is a public space located just northeast of Tap Seac Square along busy Avenida de Sidonio Pais. You can find this small park when walking over to Flores Garden and the Guia Hill Cable Car terminus.
The park is mainly for residential use and is generally of little interest from a tourism perspective. This is the Victory Monument which commemorates the Portuguese victory of Holland in the famous Battle of Macau in 1622.
This Battle of Macau saw the vastly outnumbered Portuguese repel Dutch invasion in their three day defence of the colonial settlement and trading post. Interestingly, this battle is noted as the only major battle fought by European nations upon Chinese soil.
The Victory Monument was erected at Victory Park in in 1877. Unfortunately, it isn't considered a major point of interest when it comes to modern day tourism in Macau so you won't find much information regarding this landmark when researching your visit.
However, it is an interesting thing to see for those with a taste for history and lesser known attractions. You can make a quick pass by if intending to spend time in the St. Lazarus district of Macau. It is very near to Tap Seac Square, Lou Lim Ieok Garden and the Dr. Sun Yat Sin Museum and worth 5-10 minutes...
