General Ye Ting's Former Residence (free entry) is a historical attraction that was restored between 2006 and 2014 and opened to the public here in Macau last year. You can find this attraction on Rua do Almirante Costa Cabral north of the Lou Lim Ieok Garden. Opening Hours are 10am to 6pm daily (closed on Wednesdays)
General Ye Ting was an important historical figure who helped spearhead and lead the Chinese People's Liberation Army during the first half of the 20th century. He lived in Macau for a short time and his family stayed at this residence from the late 1920s until the early 1940s.
The former residence building is a two story property. Upon entry, there is a television programme with information about General Ye Ting, his life and time spent at this residence. Unfortunately the program is in Chinese with Portuguese subtitles only as you will also find with most items displayed within the building.
For English speakers, there is a touch screen panel in the first room upon entering the building, which you can use to look up information about General Ye Ting and this residence. There is a second programme upstairs which is Chinese with English captions. This will be more helpful if you can't read Portuguese.
Both floors include rooms which are furnished with original pieces from the time General Ye Ting lived here. You can examine the antique furniture closely and take pictures. We particularly enjoyed the downstairs common room and the upstairs bedroom and office space. There are many original early 20th century family photos on the walls of the house. These are a nice touch and interesting to view.
In front of General Ye Ting's Former Residence there is a bronze sculpture of General Ye Ting seated with his wife standing next to him while his two children are playing. This is neat to have a look at as well before or after visiting.
Unfortunately, this particular attraction is somewhat out of the way and a bit difficult to visit if you don't know your way around Macau. It is located a few minutes walk north of the Lou Lim Ieok Gardens for anyone interested. You can conveniently view all in...
